Good book. Good good book. Do you think that there is possibility that the Hotel is in France or another French country. The words "flaneur" and "concierge" are both from French desent, and in both definitions of the words, they use French slang, or say "A French person who...". This is random, but while looking at definitions of these words I noticed the "flaneur" happens to be a anagram of "funeral". Spooky. Especially as I just went to one.

Imprisoned Orphan, I think the *Kit giving birth and then dying* thing would be to much of a rip-off of Star Wars.

Imprisoned Orphan, I think the *Kit giving birth and then dying* thing would be to much of a rip-off of Star Wars. *facepalm* Why? What has Kit Snicket got to do with Star Wars? If the only similiarity between the two is that they are pregnant and that they both die in birth, then its hardly a rip-off.

However, I do think it would be too cliché. Like I said: No babies, please.

I highley doubt we'll see babies in book 13 unless the last chapter is like an epilogue thing. Because books 10 through 12 have been a span of around 2 weeks right? And book 13 probably wont span more than a week or two weeks at most. I highley doubt that Kit was 9 months pregnant in book 12, so more than likely, no babies.

Because books 10 through 12 have been a span of around 2 weeks right? More like about 4 days, actually. The recent books have all taken place over a very short time, but Book 13 may break this pattern by having some events set long after what we've seen so far.

I highly doubt that we will see Kit's baby in Book the Thirteenth, unless it has an epilogue. And it could be possible that it is twins.
A question: How young does VFD mark its members after recruitment? We know from the U.A. that since the schism, Volunteers are not permanently marked to avoid conflict (page 189), and are marked in childhood (the alleged Duchess R letter, p.p. 25-8). However, Jacques was tattooed "as a part of [his] job" (page 115, TVV) , and he was only four years only when the schism takes place (page 27, TPP). So how young are volunteers tattooed?

Younger than 18, I think. I (L) Carmelita! In TGG she was a tap-dancing ballerina fairy princess veterinarian. Pure Genius. ^^

It seems to me, my dear friend, that one moment you and I were becoming friends in the infirmary, telling each other stories to distract us from the pain in our ankles, and the next moment the entire organization was scattered, like ashes blowing in the woeful and watery Winnipeg winds. -Duchess R. Winnipeg (?)
It seems to me that the children were tattooed as soon as they were taken. Possibly it was a while before V.F.D. stopped tattooing its members, though, as there will have been a lot of chaos, confusion, disagreement and fear after the schism - too much to immediately make important decisions like that, I think. It may have taken years before they realised that it was no longer a good idea.
Also note that this quote works quite well under the new timeline, although I'm sure that wasn't the intention.
Edit: My research indicates that TCC was Tuesday night to late Thursday, TSS was late Thursday to early Saturday, and TGG was early Saturday to early Tuesday. TPP, of course, was early Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks for the timeline, Dante.
I also get the impression that VFD tattooed members as soon as they were taken, and continued to do so for some time after the schism. Maybe they didn't even realize it was a really bad idea until Jacques got confused with Olaf.

Furthermore, although I'm going off some research from this morning and my memory now, THH was Sunday to Tuesday, and then tracing back, TVV may have been Thursday to Sunday (counting from when they arrived at the village, not the part where they chose where to go). So TVV to TPP has been about - oh. Thirteen days. Thirteen. Ahahahaha...

I counted 15 days for TVV onward at first, but you're right--13 days is a better figure because of the overlap of some days in some books. Speaking of which, it's been 13 days since TPP was released.
