Funny or not it's something to tease your brain.

Oh, I just thought of a theory! *lightbulb* So basically one day Aunt Josephine was sitting down, drinking water from a plastic cup which would not by any chance break, when she heard a knock on the door. She jumped, caught by surprise, but cautiously went to open the door, not touching the door handle. There, in her very door stood Jim, the realtor. After the greetings were exchanged, Josephine let the man in, and offered him some tea (cold, of course!). The realtor accepted and sat down, wondering why the woman wouldn't turn the teakettle on, by putting it on the stove. He asked, and got a whispered reply, a claim of terror. The man smiled and offered help, to which Josephine agreed untrustingly. Then, they sat down and had a talk about the house she lived in, and how valuable it was. Soon they could smell something burning - it was the teakettle, and the flame has started, slowly spreading... [...] Yeah, you can imagine the rest In conclusion, Josephine is scared that if she ever meets a realtor he would try to burn her house. But I agree, why doesn't Handler just tell us this stuff?

It's interesting. I mean, I can't remember what book it was, but whenever Count Olaf and the Baudelaire are in caught, Olaf always has a few members of his acting troupe on the Jury so that he can get away with anything. So, the reason why Aunt Josephine might be afraid of realtors is because some of them might be on Olaf's side. Anyway, during the Schism, lots of VFD members were switching locations, maybe because they didn't want to be captured or they were burnt down. And I suppose she didn't want anyone selling her house, because there were memories of Ike there and confidential information about VFD that she wouldn't want anyone getting their hands on.

I believe the idea that Olaf's associates manage to infiltrate the jury at his trials might have been hinted at in the movie, but not in the books - because in the books, his associates are the judges themselves, who will presumably clear anyone who's on their side. Since volunteers and villains have managed to infiltrate so many corners of society, I'm sure some of them work in the housing trade, too.
