Everyone I think has an idea in their head of how certain characters look, the books are vauge on purpouse, about how they look so we can imagine it ourselves. Well, two I think of.
Esme. Mental image? The book's illustrations help a little. Dark hair, slender, we know. Beautiful?
And what about Beatrice? I am working on a new fanart, anyone's thoughts? I am just curious. I am thinking reddish blonde hair (hence my quote) up around her ears, graceful and lovely of course.

strange as it may sound, i think of jim carrey when i think of olaf (even before i found out he was playing him in the movie!)  |

Klaus, Sunny, Violet--Brett Helquist's
Lemony--Brown hair, medium-height, though his "obiturary" says otherwise, around his 30's
Jacques-NO UNIBROW, I DON'T CARE WHAT THE BOOK SAYS
Hector--Medium height, 20's or 30's, semi-untidy,short (above his ears) black hair
Jerome--Small, timid, red hair, sort of like Uncle Monty was illustrated
Hmm...who else?

baudelaires - the way they're drawn
quagmires - a modified (read: better) version of how they're drawn
esmé - tall, slender, short dark hair. basically what's in the book
jerome - medium height, messy brown hair, gray eyes

JEROME LIKE UNCLE MONTY?  No way. I imagine the man at the store (Milt?) short, fat, wearing dungerees. (despite what it says), and with a face like Mr. Remona's (Chapter 4. TAA.) Kevin-Bald, wrinkled and wearing a long gown-like thing. (weird..) |

Esme-Hair somewhere near her back, dark hair, tall, maybe 5'10, 5'11
Hector-Short, Brown hair
Jacques-OK I absolutely have to agree with Luigi (pathetic as it may seem) NO UNIBROW!!!! Brown sorta chin-length hair
Jerome-Short, bristly brown hair

Bauds: Just exactly as drawn
Quagmires: Duncan with messy black hair, and Isadora with a long black braid, or curly hair (go fig.)
Jerome: Sandy blond, green eyes, tall and willowy
Esme: Morena y bonita- Spanish for dark haired, dark eyed, pale skin (actually morena is olivey skin, but I see Esme as palid) and pretty. Narrow, small eyes, but long, thick lashes.
Lemony: like Daniel Handler, only more reserved in the face, not so silly-looking (DH always looked sort of silly to me) Dressed in a 30's-40's style suit with the hat (picture Billy Flynn about 30 years younger)
Beatrice: Medium height, ash blonde, blue eyes, curvy, but not fat, hair has a hint of red in it, a nice smile- the sort that would make you feel comfortable to talk to her.
Colette: Skinny, tall, lanky. Even with thin, long hair, and perhaps big eyes

I see them as this: Violet: Tall, shoulder lenth black hair, sloping nose, high cheekbones, and big green eyes. Really Pretty.  Klaus: Kind of girly. Tousled black hair, big thin rimmed glasses, pouty lips  , big green eyes. Smart Looking. Sunny: Small, chubby, big green eyes. I always have imagined her with no black strand of hair as depicted in the drawings. Just a ribbon mysteriously stuck to her head.  olaf: I never really get a mental image in my head. I can't picture him. He looks too feminine in the drawings. I can't imagine him. Esme: Tall, black bob, and very diabolically elegant. Mr.Poe: Kind of like the fat controller from Thomas the Tank Engine. Yah, thats about it! |

lol, when my sister was a baby she was compltely bald for the first two years, and we glued a bow to her head. Jerome- Like ally described Jacques- Like Joseph Fiennes  but dirty and frightened looking. |

I hate to disagree with you, ambidextrouskevin, but he is the absolute _last_ person I pictured to be Olaf. He's gonna need quite a makeup job... but that's my opinion, of course. And BaudelaireQuagmire, are you in the US or elsewhere? Cause the guy in the photo is Jim Carry. Er, just curious. Sorry  |
