Okay WTF? I had to watch a snoopy video for choros and they song a song about 'Edgar Allen Poe.' Does anybody know much about him? And why Daniel Handler would put that name in his book.

Edgar Allen Poe was a famous poet whose love life could be compared to Lemony's. His name is in aSoUE as one of the many literary allusions.

Hmm...yeah but i wonder why. There's no real reason for it; it's just like a neat in-joke for those well-versed in history, literature and such.

E A Poe was also a great writer of mystery and horror. There's an annual set of awards named for him (the Edgar) given to the year's best mystery writers. If you want to check out his greatness, for poetry try " The Raven" and for horror try " The Cask of Amontillado". The latter is a short story that will raise your hair. I've not read "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," considered by many to be the first modern mystery novel, but it set a standard and created a genre. How many authors manage that? On the Lemony side of things, as mentioned above, Poe's private life had far too many people dying of tuberculosis (thus, Mr. Poe's cough). To get a taste of that, try " Lenore" - another of Poe's poems. (As an aside, Lenore is a connection to Roman Dirge's cartoons of a cute little dead girl).
