really the lady in pink (Ithought)was Esme but it couldn't have been since she was wearing a bikini (Iforget what it was), before I thought that the guy in the bowlers' hat was Fernald (THHM). where's Olaf anyways?

Esme was wearing a bikini made of lettuce, and in the scene on the cover Olaf would probably be elsewhere, as he doesn't show up until the lobby's quite empty.
The man in the brown bowler hat looks like either Lemony Snicket or Fernald, but it's hard to say who he's intended to be.

When I first saw the cover on TheNamelessNovel.com, that's who I thought he was, too (although, truth be told, he looks a little different). How wrong I was.

the one lady with blond hair and glasses beside the lobby desk is probly kit..looks like she did in the book

Yeah I assumed that the lady with the blond hair and glasses was Kit, because in the book she is described as having "two pencils stuck into it at odd angles", and although there wasn't anything in the description about her wearing glasses, the picture in chapter 2 shows her with glasses. But then again, Kit was never in the Hotel Denouement, so it is possible it isn't her.
I think the man with the pipe might be Fernald. (Or at least, that was my first assumption.) There was a picture of him in TGG in which his face was quite angular(i can't think of a better word for this) as well.
I don't know about the other two men, but the lady in pink might be either Esme or Colette, I think.
And of course, regarding the original post, I don't see a picture of a frog lamp on the hat, sorry! (:

Well, I have the American cover, and when I look closely at it, it looks like the frog lamp, not an eye. Is the bowler-hat guy in the middle, along the bottom? i possess the american copy and all i have observed is small bump-like markings on the hat. |

The woman with the glasses next to the desk is quite obviously Kit, see page 19.
I can totally see a frog lamp on his hat, but it also looks like a crown or a muffin.
The other guy could totally be Hugo.
The cover for TPP has always left me puzzled.

Maybe the woman who looks like Kit is just an imposter...
The woman in pink might be Duchess R, Sally Sebald, or Mrs. Baudelaire.
As for the pipe-smoking guy, maybe he's Fernald's father (they do look very similar).

I think the lady in the cover with red is the Baudelaires mom. Because in pg 8 it says "Your Mother was wearing a red shawl, with long feathers along the edges." And the lady in the covers is wearing a shawl. Weird...I think its kit. |

hmm? I don't see any frog lamp I think the freaks are on the cover, Hugo is the hunchback obviously, Colette may be the lady in pink, and you can't really tell when someone's ambidextrous, so Kevin could be anyone... but I think he's the guy with the pipe because Kevin's face is described as wrinkled, and the man with the pipe does seem to have bags under his eyes I was thinking about this. But it's look impossible. Colette may be bad-closed and I think she was thinner than the lady in pink. I think that the lady in pink is Mrs Morrow. To say true, I became imaginning freaks as my friend ( you don't know her, she is not the member of 667 Dark Avenue) pictured. I look very stupid, I know, but understand me. |

I have a new idea! I think Colette is a young lady with long blonde hair and in a black dress who is standing behind Violet! And there is no Kevin at all.
