Dante didn't seem to think so, and he's the mod over there.
Why don't we leave it here until we get something more concrete.

6/6/06 is a Tuesday, so it could very well work...6/6/07 is not, so it won't.
Edit: Just an observation...

Handler isn't afraid to take risks and offend some people. Eveidence: In TSS, Sunny says "Busheney" to Olaf meaning that he was a horrible, selfish person or something among those lines. Think he might have offended some Bushies? Probably. Think it hurt his sales for TGG when that came around? Probably not. If his books were clean and politically correct, they wouldn't be as good. Although I do agree with whoever said Friday the thirteenth makes more sense. It's a more universal superstition, and the thirteenth of October 2006 is indeed a Friday (or so says my computer), so I bet that's what they'll do.

I e-mailed the people that run the LS site and they said that it is possible that the book will be released on October 13th...but who knows?

Yes, Snicket89, your profile is pretty cool.
I imagine that if (when) it becomes clear that 06/06/06 is an impossible release date, they'll switch to October 13th.

Pardon my absence! Yes, my source actually works for HarperCollins Canada, and they have proved themselves reliable on numerous counts. I've been provided with trusty information since Book the Tenth. Only once was he wrong, when I was told the side of B12 cover would be yellow, but I guess it was either yellow or orange, and they decided to go with orange. Nevertheless, HP is AIMING for 06/06/06, and I do believe that they will achieve it. The books in the series have all been relatively short, and it would be most unfortunate to release it on such a sadistic day, would it not? The Tuesday makes it all the more convenient. If for some reason they can't pump it out by then, I'm sure we can be expecting something else ASOUE on that dreadful day. I will inform you as more information rolls in. But in the mean time, 20 DAYS TILL B12!!!

It'd be great if Book 13 were out that early, but I'm not sure if it'd be all that good if they rushed it like that. The book would probably be full of typos and little errors that HC didn't have time to correct.

How do you people get these sources? I always wonder.
Well, they sound reliable enough. I have my doubts about whether they'll manage it (regardless of whether they want to or not), but I wouldn't complain about errors unless there were pages missing or the Ex Libris was wrong.
