An insider close to HarperCollins mentioned the importance of the date Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 also known as 06/06/06. Apparently HarperCollins is trying to pump out Book the Thirteenth by 06/06/06, to end the series on the most dark and sadistic day of the century. Whether or not the book will be completed and ready to be published by then is unknown, but the insider tells us that June 6th is the date they are aiming for. All the more convenient is the fact that 06/06/06 falls on a Tuesday, which is when new books are always released. Personally, I think that's a very good marketing scheme.

It seems like a good marketing scheme, but I doubt the book will actually be ready for publishing by then. I suspect that Handler's gotten most of it planned out, or even has most of it written, but it takes a long time for books to get published after the actual writing is done.

Wouldn't that be wonderful to have it so soon! How reliable is your source?

It'd be great if we could get it on that date (not least because it wouldn't require us to wait more than a year again). However, it is true that the actual publishing of books takes many months. I don't doubt that Handler already has the books written quite a while before their release date - I recall him saying in an article somewhere that he'd finished B12, and this was long before TheNamelessNovel.com opened (if I recall correctly) - so they might manage it. Maybe.
Edit: If they really wanted it to be out for that date very badly, they could rush the publishing process. That might mean that there'd be quite a few mistakes and defective copies, though.

Maybe if there's some Book 13-related site equivalent to TheNamelessNovel.com, they could open it on that date, even if the actual book didn't come out until the fall.

My only other complaint is that because it's in the summer, I couldn't have Unfortunate Day at school. Otherwise, it would be great.

Maybe if there's some Book 13-related site equivalent to TheNamelessNovel.com... There probably will be. It'd be weird having mountains of hype for B12, and then allowing B13 to be all-but-forgotten. Unless they made a huge gamble and had a massive information black-out, so that "nobody would know about this most terrible of books." But yes, 06/06/06 would be a good time to open such a site. To tell the truth, it seems really rather soon to release the book, somehow. Perhaps I'm just used to the year-long gaps.

How reliable is this source? 06/06/06 seems too soon too be getting it released to the public. After all, waiting builds suspense. If they're really going for the date symbolism stuff, it seems to me likes they'd release it 06/06/07 in order to better tie in with the series.

That's interesting, but doubtful. How far in is this insider? I don't think I could wait until 06/06/07, though.

06/06/07 would be suicidal for sales and completely unnecessary, unless B13 is as long as one of the more recent Harry Potter books.

True; they could release some sort of tie-in book on that date, though, although that seems rather late after the conclusion of the series. If they make a second movie, they might try to release it on that date.

Yes, exactly how reliable a source is this? That would be cool if it came out that early though.

Whenever I look at Amazon, it says that. I don't know if it's true, but it would be pretty cool.

THAT. WOULD. RAWK.
Both 06/06/06 and 06/06/07 are cool with me, but if they put it out on Friday the Thirteenth, it'd be cooler.
And are you positive this is in the correct section? Shouldn't it be in Gloom Looms?
