The ten finalists for the Beatrice Letters contest have been chosen, and you can vote for them here. None of the names look familiar, though. I'm reading through them now. Edit: The first four letters all had spelling errors, as well as the seventh, so don't vote for them. The fifth had an original code built in with a secret message. Unfortunately, that had a spelling error too (Get out now before its to late someday we will meet), but it was certainly creative. And there were some other really ingenius ones. I can't decide who to vote for.

I myself wonder why AuthorTracker only alerted people to the fact they could vote a fortnight after voting started. It's not like they revealed anything else new.
At any rate, the voting is now closed, and the three winners have been chosen (the one letter I thought was worth reading didn't get through).

LemonySnicket.com's been updated with Snicket's readings of the three winning letters; listen to them here.

I just received e-mail from H-C regarding the readings. February 2007 Dear Reader, There may be only one thing harder to hear than, "The Worst Contest You've Ever Heard is over," and that is the distressed voice of Lemony Snicket himself reading the winning entries, as determined by your votes, aloud. Are you certain you want to rush to see the winning Letters and hear Mr.Snicket's personal recordings? We didn't think so. With all due respect, Harper-Collins Publishers
