Ah, the full cover! So you see, definitely fruit of some sort, and in my opinion, apples, if they're meant to be any kind of real fruit (which they probably aren't). And it was the V.F.D. tattoo on that ankle, much clearer now. Facing in apparently the wrong direction, but the illustration of the tattoo has been notoriously inconsistent. The Baudelaires are draped in seaweed, so the apparent blue colour must just have been due to the image compression, and they all look very much the worse for wear, so I choose to interpret that as confirmation of my shipwreck theory. It's a great cover, you really get the best of it when it's close-up. (No faces in the clouds, though, sorry guys.)

Edit: Actually, that's probably the best picture of Klaus ever. Or of any of them, for that matter.

Wow, it's pretty amazing that we should get a full-sized cover this early.

This clears up my confusion about the man(probably Olaf's) feet. I thought the sole of his shoe was in fact part of his leg. As for the tattoo, in some illustrations Olaf's VFD tattoo is shown as a mirror image of the actual insignia, which is the case here as well, and seems to confirm that this is Olaf. And the border does indeed look like apples.

It looks like Violet is either carrying the cage/barrel/whatever or reaching for it, and there's something to the right of Sunny that might be another leaping fish, or possibly part of the shipwreck.

A fish? A rope? I think the yellowish patches are reflection of the sky in the water.

Violet definitely needs to tie her hair up in a ribbon!

I adore the way the Bauds look in this picture. Klaus in particular.

Also, the border appears to most certainly be some sort of fruit. The original sin idea would be neat.

Good idea - and I need to put it in the first post of the official The End thread, too, thanks for reminding me.

Yeah, I think they all look great. Klaus looks kinda frowny and, "Why does this always happen to me..." His hair looks like feathers. Violet and Sunny look suitably dejected, and the former in particular is interesting to see without her hair tied up at all. And their tattered uniforms are great.

It would appear that there was a shipwreck of some sort, but I'm not so keen on the Title not Alliterating like all of the others. I'm not very keen on the spine color; I think it looks much too similar to TSS's spine color. Maybe the spine is a muted down version of this color?

I felt the same at first - I'm hoping that somewhere will get a picture of all the books together for The Complete Wreck soon so we can see what TSS and B13 look like near each other, as with images there's always the possibility of weird image qualities (the seaweed looked blue on the smaller versions, after all). And I wasn't keen on the title to begin with, but I've pretty much accepted it as inevitable now, and it's a better title than some suggestions I've heard over the years.

And I don't think that the man/woman is 100% Olaf because if you remember correctly Jacques Snicket also had an eye tattoo, which may even suggest that Lemony and Kit have one as well. [/glow]

Also, the cloud seems to be rising up from the water, rather like smoke would if something were on fire. Thoughts?
