Will there be a letter to the editor from LS at the end of The End? Something explaining about how the books are done and what Lemony plans to do next?
Discuss!

I'm sure we had a thread on this, but I can't find it. Maybe I'm thinking of a thread about whether B13 would have a clue in the final picture, since I'm pretty sure we had one of those.
I can see there quite easily not being one, since there will be no more books in A Series of Unfortunate Events after B13, so Snicket won't have to tell his editor where to go to find the manuscript (or to tease us with cryptic hints). Others have suggested that the last letter could be one thanking his editor for all that they've done and explaining that the tales of the Baudelaire orphans have finally been told, in their true form, to the general public. I haven't made a choice, as I can see multiple possibilities, each as likely or unlikely as the next.

the one on the picture clue is just down the page.
maybe he plans to release the other books in Rare Edition or Private Library format like with TBB (what was the PL edition, anyway?), and the books (including TE) will contain editor's letters on how to find manuscripts with the extra notes...

The Private Library edition of TBB never turned up; we heard that the publishers cancelled the idea, but we never knew anything about it.
I don't think he'll do Rare Editions of the later books, if only because the timing is weird (BBRE mid-way through the series, and then the rest after everything else is done?). But I'm also against cheap rip-off editions in general, though (one for the first book in a series is enough, I feel, particularly if it's more than just a shiny new cover) and another twelve of them would be complete overkill. If there were more, though, then each cover could be styled after that book's border (as the BBRE cover was covered in eyes), and that'd be quite nice, as the BBRE's cover was great.
Oh, and the thread down the page is about TPP's final picture, although it's entirely possible we went off on a tangent and discussed B13 as well.

Let's all guess on what the Private Library edition was supposed to be!
The only private library we've seen in the series is Hector's, so it's unlikely it's related to that...maybe it was supposed to have a really posh cover?
Rare Editions of the later books seems silly at this stage, yeah...maybe if TBBRE was released after the series too it would make more sense. Sadly, it's already out.

Actually, I believe Justice Strauss's library was also a private library. I don't think the Private Library tag referred to anything in the series, though, but was to be more related to the cover style (shiny and serious-looking, possibly without illustration).
Edit: I wonder if HC would have any information about what it was going to be if you e-mailed them?
Edit Again: This tangent seems off-topic, but I think it's basically what you wanted to talk about anyway, hm, CWM?

I thought we had a thread about this, but I couldn't find one in a search, although I did find a discussion in which members were having this same dilemma. I did find a little discussion on it on pages six and nine of the Official Book Thirteen Speculation thread.

I thin k that it will just be a letter thanking the editior for all that he has done.

I think it will be a letter about TUA (Unauthorised Autobiography, but you already knew that) or a letter TO the general public.

Why on Earth would there be a letter about the UA in TE? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Some kind of cheap advertising thing in case people hadn't bought it yet. Could also do TBL, at that. That would, however, be a cheap sell-out thing, and I like to believe that Handler's better than that.

The letter at the end will probably thanking the editor for helping him get the baudelaire story to the public.

Some kind of cheap advertising thing in case people hadn't bought it yet. Would that really be worth it? There aren't any advertisements for previous books in all of the other books, including TUA. It's probably just going to be a (bloodstained) thank you letter that's partially written by Lemony Snicket and then jerkily finished off by Al Funcoot a total stranger.

Some kind of cheap advertising thing in case people hadn't bought it yet. Would that really be worth it? I certainly hope not. Hm... Leaves things open-ended enough for the fans to speculate, but makes it clear that it's probably not a happy ending (which would be appropriate). Something like that could happen, I guess, although I think the Snicket name is going to be used to write more books after aSoUE (unrelated to the series), in which case this might not work out. And bloodstains wouldn't come out well on the black-and-white. It'd be good, though. I quite like it.
