That's very cool. That'd preserve the openendedness of the series well. And, to make the bloodstains, couldn't they put it in color?

Maybe it will turn out that one of the editors is the Baudelairs and that they edited his stories (and letters) to make Olaf look like the bad guy.

I really doubt that--for the Baudelaires to make Olaf seem like the bad guy, they'd have to write the whole series themselves, as Olaf has such a big and clearly villainous role in the story.
However, I rather like the idea of a hastily-written, incomplete letter, implying that Lemony is in danger(though he'll apparently survive to write more books). Or it could simply imply that Lemony will live to write more, but is done with the Baudelaire case.

They'd need that paper that comes in colour, and just one page of the book in glossy paper seems kinda out-of-place. They could just make a grey blotch on the paper that trickles all over the place. We'd be able to infer what it was, especially when Funcoot finishes the letter.

It would be quite nice actually, if we recieved a letter from the editor himself, revealing his name and thanking Lemony for everything he's done. It may have a more cryptic nature however, such as the editor being someone from the series, and starting us on thinking about other mysteries of the story.

On that note, we have seen some letters direct from the editor: They were on TheNamelessNovel.com. However, they might not be strictly canon, although I see no reason why they wouldn't be, as they don't contradict anything at the moment.

The Baudelaires being editors wouldn't make much sense, Lemony would say "your case" instead of the Baudelaire case, and if they were in a position to be editors they'd tell the public of their case without prodding from Lemony.
A letter FROM the editor instead of one TO the editor does sound pretty nice. Maybe we could have both... We had multiple ones in tgg after all.

I think you're confusing TGG with TSS--the editor's letter in TSS about TGG was alone and water-stained, while there were five or so torn ones in TGG. (Unless your book was misprinted, and there's a thread to discuss misprints elsewhere.) asoue.proboards11.com/index.cgi?board=jog&action=display&thread=1123521503And a correspondence of some sort between Lemony and the Editor would be interesting--there could be a note from the editor asking about the location of missing documents or something, and Lemony's reply implying what those documents signify, and then the correspondence mysteriously cuts off after a few letters.

Or the editor could thank Lemony for all his submissions or even tell him what result his research and publishings have brought about in the Baudelaire case. That'd be very interesting, hopefully Lemony's books HAVE made something of a difference in either clearing his name or getting some facts straight in the minds of the general public...

Thoughts?

let's not forget that LS said he was going to write more books as lemony snicket (right?). so the end marks the end of the baudelaire's story but not nesasarily VFD.
