hehe.
Good way to some, bad way to others: The Bauds are wherever they shall be in book 13, Olaf tuns on them, locks them in some place, and attempts to burn the place down. Olaf ends up locked in, however, the Baudelaires escape, and Olaf dies. (Sorry, Olaf fans.) Maye they are sent to (And this answers the question "Why did Mr. Poe not put the Bauds in an orphanage or something?") an orphanage or something. Who knows?

Bad Way: Everything starts singing and they find out that no one ever dies. Good Way: They find out that no one ever dies and that they all ways live in their hearts.

Bad Way The Dwarves from Book 12 join together and decide that their true identities must be found out.. The show the baudelaires that they are part of VFD and live in the woods with happiness and chimpmunks... Bad Way #2 In the middle of the ocean.. Olaf yells gotcha! and everyone the baudelaires have ever met pops out of the water (including their parents and dead people) and point and laugh at them.. Then a big "candid camera" plane flys by.. The baudelaires laugh joyusly with everyone else and it end in one of those big stupid endings where everyone is laughing at a not-funny joke..

My father has half-jokingly suggested that at the end of the series, everyone who we thought was dead would come back. (He hasn't read TPP) That would be a rather annoying ending, sort of like your "Candid Camera" idea.

Bad Way: The Baudelaire's are caught by someone bad and Olaf gets away scot free and both their parents are dead.
Good Way: One parent is alive, VFD is revealed, Beatrice is revealed, Hector & Quigley end up being traitors, Olaf stops the stupid laughs, Olaf gets away

Good way: Baudelaires find living parent, VFD is revealed, Beatrice returns, then possibly dies, Lemony and Bauds meet, Olaf is most likely than not killed.

It will most likely be a bittersweet ending. I'd despise a happy ending - it wouldn't be Lemony's way at all. The ending should leave the series with a sense of closure but leave it open for spectulation as to what happens to the Baudelaires.

I'd be happy if the series ended with the Baudelaires apparently safe, but with some ambiguity about what might happen to them. For instance, they could end up living with Lemony, after Olaf has(probably) been defeated.

I've speculated that the series would end by introducing four more orphans with Count Olaf (and possibly the Baudelaires too) chasing after them.

good way 1# the bauds are in some danger and olaf sacrifices himself for them
good way 2# olaf tries to kill them the quagmires come to save them and one parent is there
the best thing possible the bauds turn evil and join olaf on his fortune stealing hijinks

Good way - Not much of these because Lemony Snicket is unpredictable. Bad way - Loads of these because Lemony Snicket is unpredictable.

Bad way: the Baudelaires all die in a terrible fire and the world is taken over by the man with no hair and a beard and the woman with no beard and hair and they introduce a 6:30pm curfew, lights out at 7:00pm. They also tour around the world burning down old buildings and they give Australia to Olaf for his loyalty. Another Bad Way: VFD never really existed and it was all an elaborate hoax set up by a sinister bored man who has a fortunate far larger than the Baudelaires. Yet another bad way: The baudelaire suvive the fire mentioned in my first 'bad way' but are terribly maimed and disfigured, then everyone they have ever met that is still alive leap out from behide the strategically placed bushes singing an "always look on the bright side/ you are my sunshine/ sunshine, lollipops and rainbows*" medley, whilst standing in a circle holding hands and swaying in a loving manner. Good way: Esme and Olaf have a harpoon gun duel and fatally injured one another and the Baudelaires are for some reason or other their only hope of survival...um, I haven't decided what happens next... *"Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, everything that's wonderful is what I feel when, we're together."

Here's another bad ending: Olaf turns out to be the same person as Lemony Snicket, and he's pursuing the Baudelaires and creating elaborate plans against them so he can make money by publishing the books.

Bad Ending: The Baudelaires eventually become villains and the villains gradually become the "good guys."
Good Ending: The Baudelaire's realize what the difference is between being a volunteer versus a villain. (What makes them different from Count Olaf). All the mysteries are explained (V.F.D., sugar bowl, etc.) Baudelaires help other orphans through being a member of V.F.D. Lemony Snicket meets up with the Baudelaires at some point.
Another Ending: The organization V.F.D. will not exist anymore due to the schism. A new organization could be put in its place.
