A Thing

I didn't know where to put this, sorry if there's a thread for it.

Anyway, my copy of The End is 5 minutes in my hands, and aside from coming with a "Read Something Else" bookmark and VFD insignia sticker, the barcode sticker on the book gives the title as "END TOO DREADFUL TO PICTURE".

Is this something left over from when less was known about the book?

I presume so - I recall that there were placeholder covers for The End made with that on the cover, I think from both publishers. Here's one:



I guess they must have had those stickers prepared before the genuine cover was released / widely available, and looked at the teaser covers and put down the thing closest to a title.
