This is a general problem. Anyone who has the Egmont (U.K. publishers) edition of The End, your edition: 1. Has a photograph of Snicket at the beginning of Chapter Two rather than the correct illustration; 2. Lacks a big, one-page picture at the end of Chapter Thirteen; 3. Lacks a big, one-page picture at the start of Chapter Fourteen; 4. Lacks a big, one-page picture at the end of Chapter Fourteen. Explanation. The publishers will attempt to include the correct pictures in a reprint, probably early next year. |

Yes, got my copy yesterday at 3.00 and mine is the same as yours, however I hadn't thought that the picture at the beginning of chapter two was a mistake... Despite this, I'm sure elsewhere on this forum some people have an English copy that has the illustrations.
Could someone scan them?

Same here. I spotted that too as I was looking at the illustrations for The End in The Tragic Treasury manual, and I was puzzled when I noticed that chapter two of the book had a picture of LS instead of the waves spilling onto the boat. Why have we been robbed of the final illustrations anyway? They're just as much a part of the book as the story. Could someone please scan them for us?

Ah, it all makes sense. My friends book doesn't have these in either.
Finally, the joys of waiting for the American covers to arrive these last few years.. is finally going to pay off!

I e-mailed Egmont about this, and got an explanation: It turns out that HC gave Egmont the files to print from before they had included the images. Egmont say they'll try to add the pictures in a reprint, probably for early next year.
