Ravaged Resources needs YOU
The End has passed, and we have survived – but with many unanswered questions. Who really did start the Baudelaire fire? And what was in the sugar bowl? Who was the swimming woman from The Grim Grotto, and why exactly were so many people lured to the Hotel Denouement in The Penultimate Peril? What is the great unknown, and what happened to the Baudelaires and Beatrice, and what happened to Beatrice and Lemony Snicket?
It’s fortunate that unanswered questions can be answered by readers – but more than one answer might fit the evidence.
We’d like all intelligent theorists to send their ideas on some of the big mysteries of the series to the Ravaged Resources moderator, Dante, to be posted in the Conflicting Conjectures section. This way, we can build up a collection of ideas and conclusions now that A Series of Unfortunate Events is over, for the consideration of anyone, no matter when they join or what they believe. Perhaps you can change minds and shape opinions, or inspire new theories for others.
Remember, it’s the details that matter – all theories should, where possible, be backed up with appropriate evidence from the series, and be well-written, so that we can understand what we couldn’t understand from the series itself.
On the subject of details, you might want to consider collating some of the small details from the series and sending them in to Dante for the Dastardly Documents section. We’ve still not got full lists of Sunny’s words and their meanings from each book, or the known contents of every room in the Hotel Denouement. A list of Violet’s inventions, both in the series and in her memory, might be useful, and so might be the width and breadth of Klaus’s research, or everything Sunny’s ever bitten or cooked – or anything else you can think of. Lists of facts or ephemera are as important as lists of possibilities or educated guesses. You should take a look, to get an idea of what use the section is, and how you could make it better.
Start writing something today – if everyone puts in some work, the individual effort won’t be so much, and you can help make Ravaged Resources and 667 Dark Avenue look even better and more impressive than certain unnamed rival sites. If you’ve got an idea or a thought for a contribution, but don’t know where it’s going just yet, feel free to PM Dante, the Burdensome Books moderator, for advice.
Feel free to post an overview of your project here, so that there are fewer duplicates, or to to gain ideas for your own project.
Write something, please – before it’s too late.
