Is it just me or did Harry like that Firewhisky too much in the seventh book? I just found it really funny that Rowling mentioned the alcoholic beverage about a million times...and during the last part of the book, she brings it up...again...Ha! I think Harry might be a drunk in the making...
Just thought I'd bring it up, thought it was ver ver funny.

Somehow I don't see Harry getting drunk. Firewhiskey just seems like a kind of drink people enjoy for its taste.

In OotP, when they go to the Hogshead Inn, I remember Ron making a comment like "I bet he'll let us order firewhiskey!" and then Hermione being disapproving, which seems to suggest that butterbeer is a nonalcoholic drink that the kids usually get, and firewhisky is an alcoholic drink that you normally have to prove you're an adult to buy.

*shakes head* Aaah those brits and their alcohol...no aqueous martinis for them, oh no...
I just keep thinking how...odd it is that Rowling would include the firewhisky right when Moody met his maker. I mean, hello self-destruction!!! I could see Harry and the rest drinking to have a 'good time'...but they were...depressed! Haha, Rowling cracks me up sometimes! XD

I distinctly remember an interview with JKR saying that Butterbeer was alcoholic but I can't find it. Anyway, here it says so.

Indeed! Yeah I knew butterbeer had to be alcoholic if it had such extreme effects on Winky.

That's what I thought as well. Something like root-beer would only make her strung out, not depressed and....well drunk. But Europe is less adamant about under age drinking unlike the US is so it doesn't seem too out of place that 13 year olds are drinking it.

Right, especially if it's as weak a beverage as it seems.
