Yeah, so Jacques wants this section back to life, and since he has already made a HBP Movie Thread, i though i might as well make a DH movie thread.
What is interesting is that the movie will be split up into two parts, so i think that they intend to put in a lot of detail. If that is the case, then the first part of the movie will have to have some sort of an ending/conclusion. I reckon this maybe when they destroy the first Horcux after their long and never-ending camping trip.
Any more news?

I'm not sure how the split is going to work. I'd prefer one long movie than having to wait another year for the second part.

But you know how the whole thing will end.

I heard that it was going to be split, but can someone clarify where that was said and who said it?
Is there any other news whatsoever about it?

They were thinking about splitting Goblet of Fire, and that never happened. I would rather have a long movie then two parts.

Meh. I'm not actually sure how I feel about it. I'd rather them split it and do it properly than have just one and leave stuff out.

Guess what guys? There is definitely going to be in two parts for Deathly Hallows. It's official: Eight will be the magic number for the "Harry Potter" film franchise.
After months of rumors, Warner Bros. and the producers of the massively successful movies will announce Thursday that they plan to split "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," J.K. Rowling's seventh and final "Potter" novel, into two blockbuster films -- one to be released in November 2010 and the second in May 2011.
The films will be titled, simply, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II," according to producer David Heyman. Director David Yates, who returned for his second tour of Potter duty with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and is quite popular with the cast, will direct both "Deathly Hallows" films, which will be filmed concurrently. Screenwriter Steve Kloves also returns and, by completion of the franchise, will have written seven of the eight films. www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/movies/la-et-potter13mar13,0,7162166.story (copy/paste this one) Another link: the-leaky-cauldron.org/2008/3/12/la-times-says-official-two-parts-for-harry-potter-and-deathly-hallows-movieI did say that I'd rather have a long movie, but if this means having better movies, then I guess I'm for it. I don't think they'd go for a really long one anyway because people who don't read the books might not have wanted to sit for that long, and now that there's two movies, it'll be long still, but good for people who don't read the books too.

Wow, it looks like with movie 7 they're actually going to make a movie of the book and not a movie of the book combined with whatever cuts and additions pop into the director's head.
w00t!

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it's a good thing since less will be cut out of the books. But how can they conclude the first film properly with its own arc and logical conclusion, or are they not going to try and just go with the abrupt "to be continued"?

I don't think they've decided yet, but that's definitely one thing everyone's curious about.

havent heard any news and i agree with Sixteen. i dont think they should split it i dont care if the movie is really long anyway.
on the other hand.... they can make it two movies, DH part 1 and DH part 2. but i don't wanna wait an extra year for part 2. they could come out at the same time?

No one wants to wait but if it'll boost the quality of the movie I won't mind taking the hit.

I think this a poor idea. I know that it's allowing more to be put into the movies, but with Yates directing I doubt if it will be anything we are hoping for. The previous three directors have taken out so much of the books, that DH's content has been cut down to about 500 pages. And a single film, perhaps even with an intermission ala Gone With The Wind, would make for a better and more productive film, than two films six months apart. Fans of only the movies will not care about what is left out, and they will be annoyed they have to fork out again for the continuation of the same film. And where on earth would they split it? When Harry Ron and Hermione are captured and take n to Malfoy Manor? Sooner? There isn't really any point in the middle of thebook where there is a truely climactic cliffhangerish scene. Ugh, I'm not looking forward to this.

Aargh...I'm so done with these movies. Okay, I'll watch them and all that, but where the whole thing has come to now just kinda pisses me off. It seems like the brilliance of the books is being completely degraded by the movies, and the general population will STILL eat it up. Ah well, what can you do...plus I still can't stand Emma Watson.

What's so bad about Emma Watson?
The movies are a mixed bag like everything else, they're awesome at bringing the special effects to life and truly visualizing the books as I reread them. At the same time I'm continually disappointed by what gets left out. *shrug*
Honestly, the cliffhanger will be annoying as will the wait but waiting a few months to make a movie that will last forever just that much better is, in my view, worth it.
