Should there be an original's section for select dedicated and older members of 667? I just wanted to get a general idea of what people think.

Don't we already have one or something? And why do people care so much? Wouldn't that be upping the elitism a little more than it should be? The entire point of a board is so that fans congregate. If you segregate it, then isn't it undermining the community feel that a message board should have?

I voted for yes.
The newcomers here are really clogging up 667, and 667 ain't what it used to be like it was back in July. It was so much... better back then.

Permit me to ask: what exactly would you guys do in a select section of 667? Call me a bleeding heart liberal or what have you, but I don't really like seeing all this hate towards people who were, mostly, just unlucky enough to sign up later instead of sooner. I think this thread, started by Tamaghis' FIRST POST, was a lot more engaging, intellectual, and stimulating than most of the threads in 667, including those posted by users who have been here longer. Like I keep saying, there are some good new members, and there are some bad new members. It's always been that way with this board (I reiterate: YOU WERE NEW ONCE), and it'll pretty much stay that way. [EDIT: I reread Tamaghis' thread, guess what he said to my warm welcome: "Wow. Thanks. This is a lot nicer than the usual "STFU really cool member!" I get on joining a board."] I think my big deal is with the attitude rather than this proposal in and of itself; if you keep acting like newbies = cockroaches who will swarm over your bodies and give you diseases, and not have anything to do with them, the "newbie problem" (god I sound like Hitler) will just get worse. Problems with people don't solve themselves. If you have a problem with them, then when you see someone slipping up, politely point out their mistakes and tell them, hey, welcome to 667, but you should probably [blah blah]. And I know this sounds kind of hypocritical coming from me, but at a certain point mocking newbies just stopped being fun and started being pointless and disadvantageous to the reputation that this board should have.

I don't really think that would be fair. A lot of people are just as "dedicated" even though they didn't come here when it first started, and even though they don't have an enormous post count. And all the new people arn't "n00bs". Like Luna said, I don't think that there should be any more elitism than there already is. I believe that the forum is best the way it is. And Tyler, if you hate all the people that have come... I'm sorry. There's no way to drive new people away. Anyway, I voted a definate NO on this.

Just so you know:
Dedicated members who are new WOULD, hypothetically, be let in. madamluna, for example.
I'm neither for or against the section. I just want to know the general opinion.

I performed a little thought experiment about the possibility of the exclusive board, and here are my results. What could happen: 1. If there's a certain post count required to get in, newcomers will make lots of utterly useless posts, then enter and probably be disappointed. If they have to be "intelligent" to get in, they'll just feel insulted and give up.... 2. Newcomers and others, disappointed at not being let in, decide to leave 667 altogether. Soon, no one will remain except for the dedicated members in the exclusive forum, which will defeat the purpose of it. And if the exclusive board is done away with, eventually things will return to the way they were.
Just my theories. Anyway, some people who start out acting like stereotypical newbies turn out to be very intelligent, as are many relatively new arrivals. And Tyler, if you hate the newbies here so much, start your own board. Or something.

I came here straight from UE.net, but I left once the stupid Proboards thing refused to send me the registration email. Also, I really really like how most of the people who want the secret original board section justify it with "newbies are so...arrrgh" and "667 was just...better back then."

1. Content Tocuna, Not quality. That's what targ will be looking at. What's the difference? If you have GOOD CONTENT, then you're a quality member. With quality content. Of high quality. What do you mean?

But if they have 250 (good intelligent posts) and have been a meber for 10 months they would be let in. But if a meber had been here for 2 months and had 3440 (totally crap) posts they would be allowed in.

Wouldn't content in this context be synonymous with quality? Perhaps you meant quantity.

To disscuss things that happened a while a go without N00bettas interrupting with "Whoz Penynroyale???//" and they are annoying.
