Um... When people know you, when you've been here a while... That shorta shtuff... If you can't give them an EXACT MEASURE of time as to when you won't be a newbie anymore, this will not work. Like countless other people have said, eventually there will be someone who will fit the criteria but won't get in, which will beget discord. And if you can't even say what kind of people get into the secret section, how can you justifiably have a secret section at all without being biased and elitist? And how can you in good conscience run that on a message board, when the point of a message board is to have people congregate on level ground? I've only had my registered name for five months and I already have over a thousand posts and Vindictive Villager or Devious Doorman or whatever. Time does not correlate to the amount of posts you have in this place, so you can't use EITHER of those to figure out whether someone is or is not a newbie. What criteria, then, would you base newbie status on?

Here is a thought...instead of a "Originals" section, why not a section for the more older (me) and mature (Luna for example) members. where we aren't annoyed just by the noobs but also the 10-13 year olds that are driving us crazy because they are too young to understand but still feel they must comment. .

Luna is 15 anyway. I do not know where I stand on this "Mature" business anyway.

Tragedy has already wrote his usual 1000 word reply on the mature "topic", Bored, so I suppose you won't have to wrap your brain around the subject.

Doncha think this poll is a bit biased considering there are a lot more newbies that don't want to be left outa anything? If there was going to be a new section that excluded me I would vote no. I dunno, maybe you could make it so that everyone could view it but only the elderly folk could post? That way the newer people could at least see what is being said even if they can't have a say in it (but since its for older members they prolly wouldn't know or care about most of the stuff written so they prolly wouldn't even have anything to say).

We already have a whole lot of sections that exclude not only newbies, but everyone who aren't moderators, UE.net originals, and even random people (Sickly Secret--what the heck do you need to get in there?). How many more do we really need? Well, it's already been established that this is a vain attempt to restore the hack wheeze "gilded age" of 667, so it's probably all going to be in-jokes peppered with newbie insults. In which case, yes, it's going to be a useless feature because nobody except the people who are able to get in are going to care about what's being said.

The very idea of weeding out our members, selecting those who will have a special privelege like this, with their qualifications based on the ever-varying human opinion would be a downright rude thing to do. It would be like a segregation of who someone considers cool and who someone simply doens't know good enough. No *one* person should be assigned to do this. I say if we're gonna have a special thread, we run a poll now fo all the currently-posting members, where everyone decides if they qualify. Yet, if someone gets thirty votes yes and 31 votes no, htye should be let in simply on principal that half our community likes them. Then every three months we run polls for members who aren't in yet, and decipher new members. Instead of an originals threa,d it'll just be a filtered thread. With annoying people not let in. But.. I do ask we make polls password-protected so that n00bs don't all vote yes so that they can get in. They still outnumber us. But maybe passwording would be a bit rash. After all, they didn't mess up this thread too much. Seeing as how there is still a basic percentage, as stated above. We all get the idea, and it it alright to say half the population wants in and half doesn't. So we give it a try. DAMN, I should have an official title as idea-giver. PLEASE READ THIS! IT IS NOT AN ANTI-THREAD RANT! IT IS AN IDEA! REMEMBER MY LAST IDEA???

Doncha think this poll is a bit biased considering there are a lot more newbies that don't want to be left outa anything? if it's so biased then why is the YES vote almost equal with the NO vote?

More ideaness: To keep up to date about applications and polls, we could make a seperate account which only one person knows the password to, and its' soul purpose will be so people can PM it, to request a poll to be made for them in the access-request thread, if we make such a thing. But a seperate small thread would keep it all out of MM and other places. This person will be someone well-known and social, who has spent and will willingly spend some time with n00bs and likes. They will be able to turn someone away if they are too new.
N'eh. I shouldn't be allowed to rant like this....

Good choice. I really like your (newest) idea, Colton. It seems like if we are going to do this "thing," that would be the only fair way to do it. There is no way that my opinion can be biased on this subject, since I would (in all probability) not be allowed in this section anyway.
