So you guys are liberal? But what does that mean to you? Would you consider yourself feminist? Chauvanist? Please elaborate.

Liberal, but maybe not extremely so. To me, being liberal means advocating equality(I'm feminist), civil rights (ie, gay marriage), democracy, and a fairly non-controlling government.

Hold on, I though liberals liked big, controlling government. Maybe we need a definition of what it means to be liberal or conservative......

Here's a dictionary definition:
Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.
Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.
Sort of like what I said.

Hold on, I though liberals liked big, controlling government. Maybe we need a definition of what it means to be liberal or conservative...... [n] a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties [n] a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets Can't find conservative... Edit: Bah, you ALWAYS get there before me, you know. It's quite embarrasing.

Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded. Sort of like what I said. The thing about dictionary definitions is, they don't always actually reflect what the word has evolved to mean. This could be a more difficult problem than i thought....
