Well I love them all, but because I have only read until the seventh book (reading the eight book), I can't say for sure. Although I own the UA I didn't understand a thing because I haven't read the whole series. I'm looking foward to finishing the series and enjoying the UA and maybe discovering what VFD means. The U.A. was released between THH and TCC, so that would be a good time to reread it. Then read the TBB Rare Edition notes after TSS, and The Beatrice Letters between TPP and The End.

Some people don't like TMM, but I really like it. I must agree with Tiago. I like TMM, not as strongly as I like TCC but I like TMM, too.

The BB. It's pretty downbeat and tragic, but the nostalgicism involved makes it a happy memory.

i liked the penultimate peril because it is the most exciting and the one with the most "action", per se.

I think TPP is probably my favourite- the mood, the setting, the reappearance of characters from previous books and the moral ambiguity make it a really fascinating and complex instalment I think. TEE is a close second for me, although I do also favour THH. I'm surprised the latter doesn't have more votes, actually.

I really like TEE, mostly because of the Squalors. I also like TSS, because of Quigley and the snow scouts. And I like TPP because that's where things start to make sense.

They are all of course very good, but I liked TPP and TGG best. I also loved the autobiography! But I don't think TMM was the the worst book in the series.

It's hard to point out a specific reason for either book, but I would have to say my two favorites are TRR and TPP. Shame I only own one of the two.

TRR's an unusual choice; why are you so fond of it? As one of the early books in the series, I find it hasn't yet achieved the full realisation of Snicket's style as we know it from the later books.

^^ yeah. Snicket's style starts to come through around books 5-6 when VFD is introduced.

I liked the Slippery Slope the best. Finding V.F.D in ashes was pretty cool.

TSS was my favourite book when it came out, but each subsequent book tended to outrank it. It's still great, though, and does things that the rest of the series doesn't.

Oh gosh this is a really hard choice! When I think of the ones I loved best it is The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Penultimate Peril that stick out most to me. I really love The Grim Grotto too though...
I guess I will have to narrow it down to The Hostile Hospital annnndd....The Penultimate Peril. Those two always stuck out in my head as being the most amazing to me for some reason, especially THH. The Penultimate Peril I just seem to really enjoy because there are so many old characters in it that I enjoy, and none really seem to annoy me like in some other books on my favorite list. Or maybe I should put The Vile Village as my 2nd favorite because it breaks my heart every time I read....goodness...ahh.
It is such a touch choice though!
