I was watching the outtakes the other day, and I found one that was geniunely creppy. In it, Olaf and his troupe were playing "a sophisicated game of spin-the-bottle." The two white-faced women were selected, much to Olaf's joy. It gets worse, they are actually considering it. I hope they just didn't read the books. I know it was a made on the fly deleted scene never actually intended to be in the film and we don't actually see anything, but still.

I've always imagined them as sisters and it seems that you think they're sisters as well, which would explain why you found the scene so creepy. But many people don't think of them as sisters, that would make the scene... normal.

I thought they said in book 10 they were sisters. I'm planning on reading it again soon anyway.

Okay! I want to post here because these are things I think about to myself quite often.
What I enjoyed; ★ The scenery was fantastic. I especially enjoyed how they made the scenery for The Wide Window. Aunt Josephine's house is just amazing no matter how many times I see it. ★ The costumes. I love the clothes everyone wears. ★ Emily and Liam are fabulous as Violet and Klaus. ★ The overall tone of the movie. ★ The narration
What I didn't enjoy; ★ The fact that Klaus doesn't wear glasses. I was always curious how it would be if they continued things since TMM has them very important! ★ Jim Carrey as Count Olaf. Every time he shows up, I cringe. I think he did a horrible job, and butchered the character in the movie. (please don't kill me for that opinion!) He was just...horrible. I could write a whole essay on it, I swear haha. ★ This goes a bit with above, and isn't the movie itself but relates to it. I think the kids were the stars of the movie, and nearly all the promos, extra scenes, and such are starring Jim Carrey. I never understood it. ★ The scene with the marriage being completely different. ★ It wasn't as dark as the books. ★ They made Sunny seem so rude!
Typing this out actually makes me feel really whiny, but I did enjoy this movie greatly in its own way. It wasn't a perfect adaption but it was nice enough that I am am happy that it exists. It is better than nothing to me, and I have seen far worse book to movie adaptions. Though I do remember that I saw it with a few family members in theaters because I was young at the time and I walked out very embarrassed that they had to watch it with me!

★ This goes a bit with above, and isn't the movie itself but relates to it. I think the kids were the stars of the movie, and nearly all the promos, extra scenes, and such are starring Jim Carrey. I never understood it. Jim Carrey is famous; Emily Browning, Liam Aiken, and the Hoffman twins are not. Thus the movie was advertised based on the actor most people would be familiar with. You see it elsewhere - like the way the promotional material made Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter look like the main character of Alice in Wonderland, or, in a British example, they over-egged David Jason's minor role in Hogfather. I find it really annoying too, although I can see why they do it. It's essentially a trick. Also, CountessViolet, it might be a good idea if you acquaint yourself with the "Modify" button when you have something new to add but already have the most recent post in a thread. But don't worry, we respect your opinion on Jim Carrey.

Glad someone else found it annoying too though because I always thought that I was the only one that noticed! And of course I respect your opinion too Countess Violet! My friend is actually a huge huge fan of his so I am used to that opinion!

As others have said, I dislike that the movie differed from the books - but then again, most movies that are based on books mess everything up. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the ASOUE movie.

I loved the scene where they escaped off of the railway tracks, and the fact that they included the last chance general store was good too. I thought Jim Carrey's performance was good, but I really wish that he was more sinister than silly. And I wish Klaus wore glasses. I would love to see a sequel, but that seems very unlikely.

I looove Meryl Streep as Aunt Josephine and haaate Jim Carrey as Count Olaf. I dislike the actor/actresses that play the Baudelaire children as well. They just don't fit the personalities. Basically all of the acting except Meryl Streep's is far below the par of ASoUE. I don't mind that there are scenes left out, but I hate that there are added scenes that have no backing in the book whatsoever (the train scene, to be specific, bothers me).
I feel like Jim Carrey was made to look too old for Olaf. After all, the Baudelaire parents murdered his parents after the children were born. I also don't believe he should be ugly. I think Ewan McGregor would have made a much more appropriate Olaf.

Basically all of the acting except Meryl Streep's is far below the par of ASoUE. Not to mention Timothy Spall. He was pretty great. I don't think he looked too old, besides the gray hair that he has in the book. He certainly doesn't act like an old man.

I also don't believe he should be ugly. So do I. Kit and Esme seem to be beautiful ladies...
