~~~ And so the pattern is upheld, only to break. It looks as if our next update will be for the opening of the site proper, although I wouldn't be surprised to see more mysteries e-mailed our way. So Lemony is indeed the falling figure from the teaser cover, and things look quite desperate for him, especially if he's been dropped, perhaps from a cliff or helicopter. Discuss.
Hmm. The helicopter idea is interesting... Perhaps he was trying to escape from something-- or someone?
As soon as I saw "Drop Everything" in the subject line, I thought "OMG, they must have the website up and running". I wasn't quite right, but at least we know when the website will be ready. I really hope we learn alot more about the series from this website.
It was a great subject line. I really did drop everything to get it up here.
It reminds me of that Mad Men(?) poster I keep seeing everywhere. Connection? Perhaps. Coincidence? Most likely
Yeah, when I first saw it I was like "OMG Mad Men!" haha. Love that show. Not quite sure what this could be...apart from Lemony falling. Well it's night. and the fact we can just see a silhouette could mean he is dressed in black. Maybe he is jumping from a helicopter or plane to land on a building. I V.F.D stealth mission maybe!? Then again he would probably die without a parachute...
So March 28th, no question about it? I'm eager to see what they'll come up with. Probably nothing elaborate - yet - but enough to keep us going until October.
The blue colour of the background suggests the sea to me, and you could then say it could be linked to the seahorse and the octopus. Also the writing, the silhouette and the general feel of this whole image seems to be in Seth's style. I didn't expect to like it, but I think I do. Anyway, I am intrigued to see what the site will look like on the 28th. Curiously that is one month after the first email- a coincidence? As Sherry-Ann says I don't think It'll be anything to drastic yet, but maybe the website will evolve a bit over time. I wonder if we'll still be receiving weekly snicketmail?
Yes, this particular piece does seem to be done by Seth. I don't think it's the sea, though - people don't fall underwater, and that would be a very odd swimming position. There's also the stars.
Well, the stars could be bubbles - but I agree that it's probably the sky, which means Lemony must be falling from somewhere very high up if we can't see any other features around him other than sky (no trees, no buildings). I suspect that the frequency of the updates will drop back a bit once the site opens; there are a lot of weeks until the book comes out. We'll have to see exactly what they have planned; there are many options and it's probably unwise to speculate. But they could definitely make an event out of giving us, say, the final cover art or the synopsis.
Are they stars? I assumed they were bubbles in the ocean of some sort, but looking now, you're probably right. It's actually just occurred to me that I don't like the person drawing. Why the spiked hair?
I think it's the sky. That one star towards the top right looks like it's twinkling.
I thought it was stars at first then I thought it might be snow but there's too few of them and there's that one North Star so im definitely gonna say stars
Has anyone else seen the recent Tintin movie? This picture reminds me of the opening credits, when it shows a silhouette of Tintin going around on an adventure, fighting other silhouettes.
