Hello evreybody!
I m Misterm and i am a huge fan of ASOUE, and of this forum. As you can see this is my first post. For the last few weeks ive been looking around this forum, and enjoying evrey mintue of it, reading old conversations, theroies, and general fun, but it occured to me that most of the posts about the first few books are old! So, with the new 'Prequel' seires on its way, wouldnt now be a great time to go back over all 13 books - and other things - and try tpo [oick up on things that we've missed? Howerver, i suggest a day by day, chapter by chapter approach, 13 chapters from 1st monday - 2nd satruday, and then the to my kind editor and a general summing up?
What daya think?

Have you familiarized yourself with the Great Reread threads, misterm? What you propose sounds very similar, and I don't disagree it would be prudent to get reacquainted with all thirteen books before the release of ATWQ. The trouble, I find, with a second forum-wide Reread is how to address the theories, issues, and observations raised in the originals? One doesn't want to run the risk of the second being a copy of the first, but likewise sometimes points of those sorts are merited.
Another point to consider is whether a full discussion of the books would be better off taking place after TFQ is released. This way it might be easier to spot connections, but then it also might cause overlapping between boards. And for that matter, since such overlapping is bound to occur anyway, would it be best to wait for the end of ATWQ altogether?

A friend and I are doing just that. But it is mostly to try and spark of a bit more of a fandom on tumblr. I agree with Sherry-Ann, that another reread, whilst a good idea, could run the risk of overlap. It would be better to re-read at least after the first book. It would be spectacular if the ATWQ changed how we view ASoUE completely.

I have to agree with Sherry Ann and Brunch. A reread is a great idea, Misterm, but the trouble is that I really don't think I could face up to another one - although old, the last one was so very comprehensive. In any case, "old" is relative - it was three years ago, sure, but that was three years after the end of ASoUE, so it actually falls right between the two series! I definitely think there'll be room for a sort of definitive WCTBATH reading, however, taking it apart as carefully as we did the old books in the reread and doing everything we can to search out connections with the older books. With a lot of readers on hand, even if many of us miss one small thing, some of us are bound to catch it. So... consider this an early announcement of a Great 667 Re-Read of WCTBATH to commence extremely shortly after the book is out?

It shouldn't be too hard to find all the old reread threads. They're all in the relevant subboards and shouldn't be more than a page back.

I know that according to the rules this is almost a week too old to write in. But I think this topic should not be finished that fast, because there are many new members that didn't re-read everything three years ago with the others. Maybe some of them want to do that now? I just wanted to start re-reading the series beginning with "The End" and going through the books backwards. Does anybody want to join me?

As we said earlier, while it might be possible to do another ASOUE reread after the release of ATWQ, right now there's no new material for us to go off of and risk of overlap is high. The first reread was very comprehensive, as you'll see from looking through those threads. Feel free to start gathering notes, though! Reading the books in reverse sequence might indeed allow for new insights useful for a first reading of WCTBATH.

Apologies for bringing this up again, and also for double posting. (I Know, i'm a naughty boy)
We are just over a month away from the relase of ATWQ - book 1. and so far (in my opinion) that the book will contain enough new information that poeple will defintley want to re read the books to look for any subtle references to ideas later used in the new book. And if people are going to want to re read the books, then i believe a re read would be a fascinating idea. I wont go into the specifics of what i have in mind judt yet. thats still to come.
However, as Sherry Ann and Dante have both said, hwo to stop it being to similar to the old one? Well, i have an idea - if you were invovled in the old re-read, then maybe they should not post to much in the new one. Not ban them entirely, because im sure many will want to add there own thoughts to this, but maybe they coudl just take a back seat. I knwo poeple may not agree with this, but, hey, im just throwing my ideas out there.
But if you are intrested, please, let me know, an i will share my ideas.
