-------- My dear 667ers, Over the upcoming days you can expect teasers in terrified anticipation of Lemona Snicket's new fic. Ms Snicket is the author of quite a few peices of fanfic, all dreadful, including Snicket and Handler: A Coward and a Gentleman and, more recentley, Because It's In: Reflections of Esme Squalor. Please avoid this first teaser. L ~~~~ The expression “at sixes and sevens” is a curious one, because it really has nothing to do with playing cards, telephone displays, mathematics, high-rent apartment buildings, or any of the other places these two numbers can be found. The expression merely means that you feel as if everything is muddled and, for various reasons, cannot think as well as you would like. There are many possible reasons for feeling this way, such as being unusually hungry, being trapped in the reception area of a notorious salt-water aquatic centre, being woken very early by someone at the door, or losing your internet connection, all of which can happen at any time.

It looks like a good start to me, and your choice of expressions is very appropriate for your choice of posting location. I wonder why none of us have picked up on that before? Still, you're not giving much away about the project itself. But that's what makes it a teaser.

Thanks, Dante. Still, you're not giving much away about the project itself. That's the whole idea. Stay tuned.

Being a member of an online forum is like being a streetlight, because sometimes you find there is plenty to observe and be part of, and sometimes there is nothing but silence, and the plain sight of a pinstriped background, or the bare, grainy texture of empty concrete.

Lemona, I admire you for being so productive over the holidays. I like your take on the Snicket style, and yeah, I'm looking forward to this. (I know, I'm bad at complimenting.)

Since I began my alliance with my second cousin, Mr Snicket, and his representative, I have had unfortunate events follow me even more than before, and it is unusual to find anyone who understands this plight. Many of the people I have spoken to have been cruel, murdered or otherwise unhelpful, generally asking nothing but all the wrong questions while glancing at the clock. But this doesn’t mean that it is impossible to find any noble people, and the majority that I am acquainted with are contained in an entity that takes its name after a large building I used to frequent, a phrase which here means that I visited it often for many years, until it became too dangerous even to send a package of figurines to that address. If you want to find out anything about this group, you will probably have to hunt up a fairly old article from the New York Times - one that, I’m sorry to say, it is now dangerous to be seen reading. “Although our intellect always longs for clarity and certainty, our nature often finds uncertainty fascinating” – Karl von Clausewitz

The tales that my associate and relative has researched are fraught with confusion, mystery and fear. After all, the world is a large and fierce place, where countless people are caught up in various unpleasant webs, more monstrous and troublesome than even the largest of casino complexes. But, in the midst of all this, my second cousin might have searched a bit deeper still, and found that, just out of sight, there were members of a surprisingly noble faction lurking around the fringes.

Hmm... so is this an amalgamation of an ASoUE fic and a 667 fic, perhaps? (It wouldn't be the first, but it would still be rare.)

Hmm... so is this an amalgamation of an ASoUE fic and a 667 fic, perhaps? (It wouldn't be the first, but it would still be rare.) It would seem so, wouldn't it? YASOUE went that way at one point, but this seems, so far, to be more evenly balanced between the two. Intriguing. This is wonderful, Lemona. You have a brilliantly Lemony style, and it's great that you are using it once again.

On this Friday the Thirteenth, I announce: ~~~ Dear Reader, You are presumably looking at a screen right now, and, as you may know, screens can lead to all sorts of trouble. For instance, if you are walking in a busy street, and you do not see the large manhole in the concrete in front of you because you are staring at a screen advertising orange juice that has been placed on the top of a building, you may find yourself in unexpected trouble. If you are entering an animal enclosure, and you do not notice the sign reading “Beware of weasels,” because you are staring at a small screen held in your hand, you will certainly find yourself in very large trouble indeed. And if you are staring at a screen displaying this story, rather than some cheering and interactive site about politics, butterflies or French food, you will undoubtedly find yourself in trouble greater than even the most notorious of spyware. In this thirteen-part tale, you will be met with such unnerving things as stones, coffee shops, terrible secrets concerning members of an organization, and thesauri, all of which lead to nothing more than misery, fear and Tragedy. For this reason, I can no more suggest the reading of this story than I can suggest walking into a coven of fierce weasels, or jumping into the car of a strange woman with a teacup in her pocket, because the words I must use to report this unnerving story are about to reach your screen. With all due respect, Lemona Snicket ~~~ Doom, Overall Feeling of: A 667-aSoUE crossover Lemona Snicket
Apportionment the First out later today.
