The tour's over now, but it got a lot of publicity and seems to have been a hit for everyone who attended. Can we say that ATWQ has had a great start? I think so.

I'm glad they planned this. I wonder if we can expect similar events for the next book? Possibly we can on a smaller scale, or else an equally widespread event for Question Four.

I think Handler's always done author tours after each book, or at least the later ones, as well as now and then; we're just better at being aware of them now.

A photo summary of Handler's tour, plus a "chat with Handler" as linked in the article, and embedded first thing below: ~~~ Lemony Snicket Hits the RoadDaniel Handler – or Lemony Snicket, if you prefer – just wrapped up a month-long tour that took him coast to coast (and back again) in support of “Who Can That Be at This Hour?” (Little, Brown), the first in his new series, All the Wrong Questions, illustrated by mono-monikered cartoonist Seth. At each stop, his publisher pre-selected not-at-all-unfortunate Snicket fans to chat with Handler (You’ll be unsurprised to learn that, true to form, he asked all the wrong questions.) Below, a sampling from appearances he made in front of audiences who know, no matter the hour, exactly who he his. At the Barnes and Noble in Carle Place, N.Y., Handler entertained the assembled kids by performing a dance as though paralyzed from the armpits down. Not surprisingly, he simply went limp and fell down on the nearest surface.Showing a brand of recklessness unique to children, members of the audience of 300 at the El Cerrito, Calif., B&N were eager to step forward when Handler asked for victims – er, volunteers – to recite a note that Snicket finds, beginning with "Climb out the window in the bathroom and meet me in the alley behind this shop."Handler struck an uncharacteristically serious pose as he read from his new book at BookPeople in Austin. The author maintained his composure during a signing hosted by Albuquerque's Alamosa Books at the University of New Mexico. Returning to antic form, Handler brought his accordion onstage for a public event at Rowland Hall School in Salt Lake City, hosted by the King's English Bookshop. He serenaded the audience with a "dreadful song, but a song nonetheless."~~~

Pretty nice set of photographs there, but PublishersWeekly are usually on the ball about publicity. Good video, too; no idea what the circumstances could've been, but it's most entertaining. It's just a pity that the Snicket team seem to repeatedly forget what their own Facebook address is.

It's nice to see photos and publicity after the tour; thanks for the links and the video Sherry-Ann. Handler has a certain way with children, and it's entertaining to see this on camera.

That little interview was great. The picture of the "ballet" was hilarious - though nothing can top a now-lost video of an event held in NY for TPP, in which a person in an insect costume actually appeared from nowhere to sting Handler. I liked the picture captions, too.

The old video? I'll see if I can find it somewhere. It's a half-hour long clip of an entire event (minus the signing part), and is fricking hilarious.

Do you mind posting the link here Lemona? I'd like to see it too, and I'm sure others would as well.

I think those videos were on UE.com a few years ago (only as a single stream). It's interesting to see which aspects of his routine he's modified.
