okay i have ideas sort of even though everyone else has already posted good ideas.
everyone always gives advice for birthdays about things people of whatever age needs to know so i was thinking 44 pieces of advice with one to grow on and not all of that needs to be illustrated. or we could think of advice/messages different characters would have for handler/snicket.
or i was thinking people could pick characters and imagine something they would do/say/wear/whatevs at a certain age. so like one could be olaf at age one taking candy from other babies or something and there would be a character at each age for 1-44.
something involving birthday cake.
this year for the advent calendar a lot of people went the musical route so maybe we'd like to incorporate music somehow?

i dont know what a poem is. You'll find out if you read ?1 Or to put it another way, picture a one direction song, but without music.

^not very helpful.
But I like Pandora's idea to incorporate music. We usually write on banners for his birthday and it'd be easy to put them into a video with our music playing in the background. we could do some Gothic Archies covers, birthday music or an original collaborative song.
too depressing? haha

I'll break out the ukulele!
We can do our our Tragic Treasury about the characters of ALWQ:
The Knight called Cleo By Agathological
Ink inc Ink inc Blacker than the night Octopi cower At the sight of Knight
Intelligent and poised Living on her honour Cleo Knight will save The town that is a goner
Her name is Knight And she's no fool Cross her at your peril Like her name sake She will fight From the safety of her carrel
Cleo Knight, the knight called Cleo A mind that's finely groomed But how can a Teuthologist Save a town that's doomed?

How if we make one big story involving all of LS's characters?

You mean some sort of collaborative story?

The problem with collaborative stories is that -
*Exits suddenly, stage left*.

I like all these ideas. If someone keeps a record of them we are set for the next few years.

This one might well end up in poll territory. We have a lot of good ideas right now, which is quite satisfying.

The problem with collaborative stories is that - *Exits suddenly, stage left*. but were you perused by a bear? yeah for the music thing i don't know, maybe interested people could like submit entries and we'll send the best one? or people could work together to make lyrics and cover art and just one person could sing? or everyone could sing happy birthday? or we could like make a little album specifically for his 44th birthday and interested people could do one song each? i dont know i was like generally asking if people would be interested in that since it was a big thing for the advent calendar, we could get into specifics later.

Idea - 44 completely different things (songs, stories, illustrations) but all connected to 44 somehow? sorry if this is boring

There could be 11 verses, making up 44 lines. And four lines are much easier for a person to write than writing a paragraph or more for a whole story, and there are enough people to sing and score the finished lyrics. And there's a cover for the single to be done as well.
