World War III -"The Prime Minister is an alien in disguise! ...that's never going to work, is it?" And then the soldier guy shakes his head no. -"I need to be naked!" -I just noticed the Slitheen have stubby little tails. Cute! -"1730 this was occupied by a Mr. Chicken. He was a nice man." And then there's this cute little grin. I want to know the story behind that. -Awww. Jackie and Mickey bonding time. -And the UNIT website has the password "buffalo" to get in? My proboards password is more difficult than that. -Mickey has a ton of books about UFOs on his shelf. -So when they were in the Downing Street building the Slitheen just knocked the doors down like they were nothing but at Mickey's door he has to rip it open. Mickey's door must be made of pretty strong stuff. -Eccleston is known as sort of the tough and unfeeling Doctor compared to Tennant, and he is much more reserved in general, but he is so adorable when he is figuring stuff out and grinning ear to (very large) ear. The way he shouts "raxicorificofalapatorius(sp?)" is the best. -"Gherkins...pickled onions...pickled eggs!" "You kiss this man?" -Massive weapons of destruction...no way is that not a George W. Bush/Iraq War reference. You younguns may not remember but weapons of mass destruction was pretty much a catchphrase back in the early aughts. -Victory should be naked! Is something that needs to be said more often. -And now he's hacking into the royal navy with the buffalo password? Seriously, cyber security, you guys suck. -"For all I know he eats grass and safety pins." Yum, yum. -Aw, that's probably the closest to an apology the Doctor will ever give to Mickey. Be nice to him, Doctor, he's not a bad kid. -And that Dalek trailer...chills. That one was my first episode, and it's still one of my favorites.

Mister M's Review - The Unquiet Dead
The future is anybody's guess, the past is well known. Historical stories have always been my preferred timezone for doctor who stories to visits, so this first historical episode has a lot to live up too.
The Episode has a very interesting start. This is the first episode to start in an entirely new location, with new characters (and monsters) becoming established well before the doctor and rose turn up. The zombies/ghosts (I mean, c'mon, they're more zombies than ghosts really) are pretty creepy, and I remember being quite scared of them when I was younger.
The bodies becoming possessed by the gelth provides a pretty good monster - probably my favourite of the three that we have had so far. The Gelth themselves provide a pretty interesting moral dilemma for the Doctor to deal with. The scars of he time war are still fresh for this doctor, and as new deals begin to seep through, we see how desperate he is to help repent for his sins by partaking in the war. It's also interesting just how much the stories of these early episodes hinge on the time war.. certainly more than I has remembered, anyway.
Mr Sneed and gwenyth are good secondary characters, and help to push the story along at a relatively brisky pace. The scene with gwenyth and rose talking about London in the future not only continues the sequence of rose having a conversation with a maid/plumber/woman sequence, but is also pretty fun, and gives us one of the more overt bad wolf references of this series.
To sum up this (slightly rushed) review : This is a really good story, good monster, perhaps slightly obvious good / bad twist. I'd score it 8/10
