Had toast with peanut butter this morning and going to make myself some tea tonight (probably apple spice because that's what I have and apple just goes with anything).

I'm ashamed to have let this thread pass me by for some reason, because it's surely contender for Best Thread 2024.
Love all the photos you guys have posted, Bun's Monthly Menus, and her cracker whistling video. Just don't make burnt toast part of your regular breakfast, since it is toxic and potentially cancer-causing.

I just realised I haven't posted my cereal, that's because the picture is on Isadora Is a Door's phone. Isadora Is a Door eats cereal most days, and when he's "done" with a pack (i.e. he thinks there isn't a whole portion left but I think there probably would be most times), I seal up the bag properly and put it in another old box, so I have small amounts of different cereals whenever I want to just grab a handful of dry cereal or put it some in my yoghurt. So for this occasion I just mixed 4 different types of cereal and added some oat milk. I enjoyed it at the start, but then it went soggy and I remembered that that's why I hardly ever eat a bowl of cereal with a liquid. 8/13, picture may follow if I can be bothered.

Chilled Cucumber Soup I found a recipe which was just cucumber blended with lime yoghurt, herbs and lime juice. The recipe was for 4 portions and I may have halved all the ingredients except the lime juice, so it tasted a bit too acidic. 8/13 Orange juice and untoasted bread I had this for breakfast yesterday, putting different things on each piece of bread (that's why the slices are cut in half). The bread was baked at home with a flour and seed mix from a mill near where my parents live. The orange juice was just normal orange juice bought in a shop. I have bread for breakfast most weekend days, but not normally with orange juice. I really like this bread and the orange juice was nice and tangy. 12/13 Cold Lime Stew I liked the opportunity to get creative with this, so here is the recipe I made up Ingredients- 3/4 of a cucumber - 1 small avocado - some herbs, I used mint, dill and chives - 1 lime - a few small tomatoes - about a tablespoon of tinned black beans 1. Blend about 2/3 of the cucumber and the avocado with the juice of half the lime and the herbs 2. Cut the rest of the cucmber and avocado and the tomatoes in pieces and add to the blended mixture 3. Scoop out the flesh of the other half of the lime and add 4. Add the beans 5. Mix with a spoon and put in bowls It was very refreshing and LOOK HOW GREEN IT IS! This will definitely make a return in the summer when it's too hot for cooked food. 12/13 Crackers. I still haven't taken a picture of crackers, but they are just normal crackers I think. I tried to whistle but failed until the cracker had basically dissolved in my mouth which was an unpleasant feeling. The crackers are nice for just eating normally, especially with the cold lime stew. 10/13 for just generic cracker eating, 3/13 for the whistling experience and 0/13 for me not taking a video of it.

Ooh the cold lime stew looks so good!! I may have to make your version at some point.
Tonight I'm going to make vegetarian 'beef' casserole.

'Beef' Casserole I made a casserole last night with vegan 'beef' strips from Squeaky Bean. I had it with fresh buttered olive bread. I used this recipe as a sort of base, but I changed it substantially. I pre-cooked and marinated the vegan beef in olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic and onion granules, thyme, a Mediterranean herb mix, walnut oil, vegetarian Worcester sauce, and cider vinegar. I think that was everything. I didn't have any wine so instead I splashed in some red wine vinegar and some cider vinegar, along with French mustard, and vegetable stock instead of beef stock. I also added more water because it had reduced too much for my taste. I didn't have fresh mushrooms so I used dried ones which I soaked in hot water beforehand. Oh, and potatoes! I added potatoes, and a bunch of herbs they don't mention in the recipe, plus garlic, and lastly some fresh lime juice just as I served it. This was utterly delicious, and I will definitely make it again. I'm proud of how creative I got with this and how well it worked. Rating: 13/13

Ihaven’t finished TMM's recipes yet, but April is upon us, so ... The pilaf and fried eggs are just discussed in the book, never eaten, but the pilaf sounds interesting and the joke of it being the only thing to rhyme with Olaf made me feel I should include it. And the fried eggs have their own illustration so I thought they should make the list. I added the specification about the blackberries because it's the wrong time of year for blackberry picking so ... whatever form we can find them in will have to work!

There's some blackberry bushes not too far from my place but they're not ripe yet. I could get some from work though. Also, is lasagna not vegetarian?Because vegetarian lasagna is the only kind I've ever had.

Also, is lasagna not vegetarian?Because vegetarian lasagna is the only kind I've ever had. Yeah the blackberries aren't even in flower here yet, let alone bearing ripe fruits! Vegetarian lasagna is common, but the most traditional lasagna has layers of ground beef rather than vegetables. Very much like a bolognese, but with lasagna sheets and cheese rather than spaghetti. I'll probably use a sort of soy protein to make my version.

Pizza! This was a homemade pizza. I topped it with: tomato sauce, mozzarella, red onion, leek, black olives, capers, preserved lemon, broccoli, garlic granules, and smoked paprika. The edges of the crust caught a little but I'm fine with that. This was delicious. Rating: 13/13 Gum Here is the gum I had. It's fine, it has a nice minty flavour. But at the end of the day it’s just gum, nothing special. Rating: 4/13
