The book and movie are both getting closer and closer. Has anyone besides me started planning for midnight Potter parties?
I don't know about the movie yet, but my son and I are going to the book release party at our local Borders. He's dressing up as Harry (He won the costume contest two years ago.) and I'm making a costume to be the Golden Snitch.

I'm for totally going to the book midnight party. I've gone the last two book releases too.
I'm not sure about the movie, but since it's summer (the last few were early fall, if i remember correctly) I'll probably go with some friends.

Who wants to come babysit my kids if I go to the midnight movie showing?
I would totally love to go, but the kids are too young to come along.

I'll be in Europe when the book comes out. I can't even get the book because I'm leaving a few days before it comes out. I suppose I could get it in London while I'm there...
It would be really awesome if I could get into J.K. Rowling's signing, though, while I'm in London. Unfortunately, however, I am with an organization, so I doubt I'll be able to go... Boo hoo.
I want to go to the parties... does that count?

Gigi--too bad you aren't going to Barnes and Noble!!! *is sad* I'll probably be going to the one in Brookfield with some friends. We're dressing up for the midnight bash and the movie...it's going to be amazing! I'm going as a gryffindor-scarfed person because I'm not creative enough (plus I'd probably accidentally impale someone with a needle) to make my own costume...*cries*. Your costume sounds awesome!

Brookfield is too far. We live in Oak Creek, so we're going to the Border's by Southridge. (That probably made no sense to anyone but you, thistledown. ) Besides, last book, we started out at Border's and then stopped over at Barnes & Noble for a bit. Their party was way too crowded and they didn't have all the cool activities or the staff in costume. So we went back to Border's. I haven't started my costume yet. My mom is the one who's gong to sew it for me, so I'll have to get together with her soon. I'll post pictures when it's done.

I should probably find a costume... I've arranged to go to Border's with a friend of mine like we did two years ago.
And no the last few releases weren't in early fall, they were all in summer: Gof-July 8th(I think) OOTP: June 23rd HBP: July 16th

The book doesn't come out till 11:00 Am for me, so there won't be any midnight parties for me. Sadly. I won't even get to read it till 4:30 pm that da, because I have work. I will get to SEE it at like 8:45 that morning, but no reading till night. Le Sigh.

Sometimes...the thunderstorm right now is pretty cool, though. I live in Sussex, by the way, so I'm way closer to Brookfield. Oak Creek? I think I went to a Forensics tournament there once. I think.

Oh, yes. Brookfield would be much closer for you.
I was searching the Marcus movie theater site to see if they've announced their midnight showings, but I guess it's too early yet. I still don't know if I'll go to the midnight movie, but it would be cool.

I KNOW i wont be able to go to a midnight movie showing seeing as how i am going to be in Disney World. YAY for that anyway. But, I'm not going to a BOrders or a B&N. They are tooooo crowded for a book 7 release party. I'm going to my local wal mart. For HBP and OOTP, they had 30 people MAX there. They also have all the checkout lanes open for quicker leaving. I plan to do something I've never done with a HP book before, and stay up ALL night reading it. I think it will be quite fun.

I stayed up all night until I read hbp. I don't know how it took me so long, but I was nonstop reading from the time I got it (around 1 the morning it was released since there was a line) until about 12:30 the next morning. I stopped for meals and whatnot but that's pretty much it.
