Lady Whatever Five days ago, it was so hot in Wisconsin, that the sidewalk in front of my neighbors' house buckled. I've been inside most of the time to stay out of the hot and humid weather. Yeah, us folks in New York were forced to endure that same heat wave as well. Even to just step outside and sit down would cause me to break into a sweat after just ten minutes. I'm so sorry to hear that, Violet Marie. *hugs* It was either that same year, or one or two before that, when my best friend in elementary school's mom was forced to check into the hospital due to heat exhaustion. *Le sigh* It's not easy being Beth... I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I had a lot of hearing problems in childhood. It was to the point where I was actually deaf. It was only because of constant ear and throat infections (which I'm sure most children have), but it still effects me now. Even after fifteen or sixteen years. My hearing is not great, but I can hear. It's not about my hearing. I can live with my hearing. I'm talking about my speech. My mum keeps telling me that I speak like I'm a person who is completely deaf. I know what she means. And it's really frustating not to have any tone in my voice or not having clear speech. Sometimes I wish I was somebody else with a good speaking voice. Like my mum. My mum's a fantastic speaker. So that's why we were talking about elocution lessons, and we think singing lessons also might help (as well as fun!) I've been thinking of looking into it. If I have a chance to be able to speak better, then I have to take it. I can't go through life with speech like mine. Oh, Beth! *hugs* Not once while viewing any of your Youtube videos did I receive the impression that you suffered from a speech problem, or that you have difficulty hearing. I'm honestly a bit jealous, actually, as it's obvious by watching and listening to you that you have no issues when it comes to speaking in front of the camera. I can't even record my voice without getting tongue-tied and forgetting what I want to say! XD But yes, I agree with tk: if you want to take singing lessons, and you and your mom feel it will help you, then you should absolutely go for it. I can totally relate to what you're saying here. I wish the same thing every day for my OCD. I wish I could just reach inside my brain for a switch I could turn off and keep off, just to stop the craziness inside my head from rambling on and on. I've dealt with this for over twenty years now, but was recently forced to come to term with the fact that it's a part of me and that, while I can learn to control a lot of what I deal with, I'll never be completely free of it. The result? I felt ready to break down and cry. Yet at the same time I have to remind myself to be strong, and to not let this thing break me down. And you're strong, too - the fact that you have such a positive outlook on your dyspraxia proves it, and is one of the things I admire most about you. So cheer up, steer your focus towards your strengths (you have a lot of them!), and never for even one moment stop being yourself. <3 <3 <3

Hehe. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but Thursday Caliban's lifestyle mirrors that of Bill Henrickson's from Big Love, one of my favorite television series. ;D

I think it's possible that Esme would be a smoker, given her conversation with the man with a beard but no hair and the woman with hair but no beard in TSS.

Yeah, I imagine such would be an easy mistake to make. The only way I can see it working is if the characters were like the Baudelaires, or Chris from The Dollanganger Saga.

I like the name "Bridget" as an additional middle name for Esme. It's cool that her brothers are employees of Lucky Smells Lumbermill. In my ficverse, her father worked there.

I really do like their song, Been to Hell - but I will definitely give City a listen. Great! While you listen to City, I'll be checking out Been to Hell. City is the only Hollywood Undead song I've heard, and I would like to hear others. Thank you. Some people just fail at writing kids. They tend to make kids be a lot smarter than most real life kids actually are. Rugrats, right? Aww, I loved Rugrats. You're both right about the unrealistic portrayal of kids, though. ^^

Yes, technically it is bumping, but since she's adding something constructive, I'm not going to count it.

colette: I'm really enjoying reading about Simona and George. Yes, it is sad to know that she suffers from heart problems. I can just imagine how what a concern this must be for her husband, especially now that she's pregnant. beth: I'm so sorry to hear that your nan has heart problems. I hope she's healthy and that everything is okay with her.

colette: George is such a romantic! I wish I could meet a sweet guy like him. ^^ beth: Monty Montgomery + Nigel Thornberry = WIN x 1,000 x infinity x 1,000 x infinity + 1.

Violet's significant other wouldn't happen to be Quigley, would it? I read in your George/Simona interview that you aren't fond of Violet/Quigley, so my curiosity is piqued.
Even though I've always pictured Sunny as a brunette, I agree that a younger Dakota Fanning would fill that role nicely.

George and Simona are indeed a lovely couple. I especially like their answers to the last question - very poetic and romantic. Knowing that she died breaks my heart, though.

Grace Squalor is such a pretty name (I like her middle name, too). And how fortunate for her that she is Jerome's niece. George sounds absolutely lovely! I like the idea of his deceased wife bearing a resemblance to Vivian Lee, whom I've always thought of as very beautiful. She actually reminds me of the way I picture Esme, especially as a teenager.

I like the idea of Dewey's real name being "Dwight" and the fact that he resents it so much. Awww. This whole scene made me LOL! Would it be all right with you if I referenced it in a fic sometime? It's just TOO AWESOME. Dewey strikes me as one who would love bunnies, too. As a matter of fact, I think he'd love all cute and cuddly animals. He just has that sort of personality. ^^ What a coincidence! In my ficverse, the Training School has a cooking class also. Well, it's actually a club, but basically, same thing. And what a terror Ernest was, as a child! Poor Frank! And dear Mr. Gerard! Oh, God. Ernest doesn't have one nice bone in his body, does he? I really love the way you portray the Denouement triplets. If things didn't work out so well for them as hotel managers, they could easily make a living as a comedy team of three.

Well, I did some thinking about it and I've stored the idea in my brain for a future fic. Awesome! Time to break out the party-poppers and balloons, and hang some streamers! In all seriousness, though, do let me know when you start working on it, as I'll love to hear all about it. Perhaps you'll send me a preview, too, maybe? It's okay. When they're raised in the same family, like you said, it's easy to forget they aren't blood-related. A few weeks ago, I momentarily found myself forgetting that little!Beatrice isn't related to the Baudelaires.

I don't think the Baudelaires and Quagmires will necessarily cook up a substitute whenever they decide to cook something that one of their children don't like, but they will always try to cook one thing that they know each child likes. I don't see them being the "eat everything that is being served" kind of parents. If one of the children wants to eat only bread and jam, let them. They'll get sick of it, sooner or later, anyway. Yes, I agree that the Baudelaires and Quagmires would plan their family meals according to what everyone likes. It would certainly save time in preparation - as well as dish-washing liquid! No, I don't see them forcing their kids to eat everything on their plate, either. More like have them try it, or eat a little bit. Even if they only want to eat bread and jam, at least they're eating something. And you're right that they'll lose their appetite for it, eventually. Exactly. There are so many nutritious foods out there that children like. Parents just need to pay attention to what their kids prefer and experiment with new foods now and then. I think it's perfectly fine to allow children to listen to music that contains swearing. And I've noticed that, too, when it comes to classic rock versus modern rock. You're absolutely right that songs that encourage any type of racism, sexism, or hatred (I steer clear of anything that encourages such twisted sickness) come across as much more insulting than the simple F-word. I think that, just as long as kids know that it isn't socially acceptable to repeat the words they hear in songs, then there's no reason why they shouldn't be aloud to listen to songs with swearing. Finding alternate words for when they want to sing the song or songs on the playground is always a brilliant plan. And yes: many children, as well as adults, often like the melody more than the actual song. For me, it's a combination of the two together.
