Seriously, Sophie, these are amazing. We should see your writing more often. You can make the reader feel the emotions of the character and you can write in a variety of styles. Awesome, Sophie.

I agree that Violet would do well, although she'd have to try and stay away from everyone because she just wouldn't be able to kill anyone. I'm pretty sure that if she was in the Games she would definitely devise a method to destroy the Career pack's supplies.

Thanks again. Brunch, that thread was really helpful and CV, I do hope I stick around for at least a while. So, to upload an image, I have to somehow give it a web URL, by using an image hosting website like photobucket, right?

Rue's one of my favourites too, and she's pretty much how I imagined her from reading the book. However I reckon Katniss's part has been maximised and everyone else's has been minimised a bit. And what happened to Madge? I guess she's not really a main character and they didn't want to use too much time introducing everyone. Some of my friends said that there were too many scenery shots during the Games, but personally I think that the scenery's quite beautiful.

Last week, we received supermarket pamphlets in the mail titled "Mandarins are in".

Thanks everybody for the warm welcomes. Anyway, I've got a question: how do you post pictures here? Do you have to create an account on tinypic or something?

I've found an interview that sort of supports the "everywhere and nowhere" theory, at the following website: www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/conversation-2-daniel-handlerThis is the part which I'm talking about: DH: ... Another thing Gorey accomplished was creating this very closed system - this strange, timeless universe, similar to the worlds of Nabokov and the Marx Brothers - that felt like Victorian England, but could also be today’s world. The funny thing is I don’t think Gorey ever visited England - he never traveled. Interviewer: Whenever I look at Gorey’s work, I have to remind myself that it wasn’t created in the early part of the 20th century. DH: I tried to capture the same sense in the Snicket books. It’s a universe that is both unfamiliar and familiar - a fantastical world that hearkens to something real. I think that's good proof about ASoUE's whereabouts; what do you think?

It seems that recently this forum has been swamped with new members (like me), in light of ATWQ. I've been eyeing Dark Avenue for a long time (ever since September 2011) but I kept on putting off getting an account. I guess procrastination is one of my biggest downfalls. Anyway, pleased to be here, and hopefully I don't conk out after a couple of days.
