Depends on who gets together. Oh, Malfoy and Harry! Lol, just kidding. But it would be funny........Ha! Gandalf and Samuran should get together. Isn't Ian McKellen gay anyhow?

for me, when you take my fav characters and make them gay, it makes me sick. like merry and pippin? that makes me sick cause i like them the way they are and they aren't gay! people call frodo and sam gay all the time and it bothers me..... hehe k funny story.
i was at the movies with my friend last nite and some guys were sitting behind us. and you know when frodo and sam are smiling at each other? one guy was like 'they're gay' and my friend was like 'what? are you two on a date?' it was hysterical!
getting back on topic, i don't like slash cause it wrecks the characters. like remus/ sirius? they're best friends not gay lovers! grrr!

Slash is cool. I like Placebo slash the best. Brian Molko (the lead singer) is bi and Stephen Olsdal (the bassist) is gay, so it doesn`t really "mess up they`re world". Brian Molko is adorable. : ) I love Placebo.

i don't follow. who are these people? There is a band called Placebo. The singer is Brian Molko and the bassist is Stephen Olsdal. People write slash about them all the time.

Remus and Sirius?!? No way! I hate when people mess up other people's worlds. If you take a minor character ex: Padma and Parvati from HP, or Doctor Hibbert and Agnes Skinner from the Simpsons it's alright. As long as you don't make people a sexual orenintation they are not.

First of all: I don't read fanfic because I believe anything will ever happen in the series. I read fanfic for laughs. I can't take "good" fanfic seriously. I read parodies and comedies and well-written but out of character fanfic. FOR FUN. Because it's funny.
Secondly: Slash can be just as out of character as het. So it's okay to put Hermione and Draco together, but Sirius and Remus is disgusting? I read a good Snape/Dumbledore fanfic, once. It was HILARIOUS! Holmes/Watson is pure genius!
Anyway, I don't like fanfiction in general, but when I read it (becaue I'm in that weird mood where you don't want to have to think, and want to read something fun), I like slash. I think it's funny. I think it's cute. I think it's out of character, but so what? This is FANFIC.
And wrecking the characters? Yeah right. If slash wrecks the characters, so does het, so does all fanfic. You can't tell me Legolas/Arwen is more in character than Sam/Frodo. Playing with the characters and manipulating them and making them do crazy stuff they'd never do is why we have fanfic.
Also, I'm not talking about gratuitous sex, here. I don't like a whole bunch of sex no matter what the orientation.
Anyway, it's the nature of fanfic. People do weird stuff to characters: they're crazy fans. You can read it or you can not.
I guess it all depends what you think of homosexuality, as someone else said. But really... I don't think it's any less acceptable than het.
Personally, I think slash is great.

Hey Sam/Frodo isn't a huge stretch. They did kiss in the book, and Sam is always so tender to Frodo.
I can understand why some people like slash fanfic. I mean I read Syd/Sark(alias), and Wolverine/Rogue(XMen) because it's never gonna happen in reality. But I'd like it too, so since I can't see it for real, I like reading it.

I don't like romance fics in general. They're a dime a dozen, they're all the same, and they make up 99.9% of the fanfic world. I mean, I want a decent fic of Remus's tortured soul, but every single story is either Remus/Sirius or Remus/Tonks or Remus/Harry... Everyone's so lovethirsty...
Then there's disturbing pairings...striaght disturbing pairings, gay disturbing pairings...ew. Sick people: Umbridge and McGonagal, Harry and Molly, Dobby and Hagrid, Sirius and Beaky, now it's just beastiality.
