I've noticed that Hooky (Fernald) seems obsessed with coffee.
In TRR, he asks for coffee before "examining" Uncle Monty. He then says later,"I know there's coffee left because I can see it right there!"
In TEE, he gives a long speech about coffee and caffeine.
What do you think?

He probably doesn't get much sleep, spending all of his time carrying out Olaf's brilliantly twisted plots.
He mentioned something in TEE about not getting to sleep at all(while he was in the doorman disguise, anyway).
In my opinion, he's either sleep deprived or just addicted to coffee.

Two other references about coffe I have noticed is the coffee stain code in TCC and in TUA, a detective by the name of either Smith or Jones or possibly SmithJones was reported in the Daily Punctilio to have spilt coffee on his jacket when in actual fact this was an ink stain not a coffee stain. Is this coffee's regular reappearances some how significant? No...no I don't think  |

So what is this, the official significance-of-coffee thread? At least stay on-topic.
Captain Widdershins was the one who taught the coffee-stain code to Olivia, so presumably he taught it to Fernald and Fiona.

I wonder if Hooky marked anything with a coded stain in TEE, possibly a map of the city with the underground passageways.

What makes you suspect if fernald were to coffee stain something it would be in TEE?

That's just when he mentioned drinking coffee a lot, and when maps were mentioned. He could have marked a map at any time, though.

purhaps it was he who marked the Mount Fraught map...but that wouldn't really make sense as he would have just told Olaf, rather than have him go through the effort of decoding
