I don't think it's Volunteer Fire Department because it's a real place and it isn't "secret". I've asked this man. go here. www.volunteerfd.org or email jason@volunteerfd.org for more details...

At least three of the V.F.D.s on that list were from aSoUE, but weren't credited to Snicket.

I'm not sure about that. I think whoever submitted them, or whatever, forgot to credit them to Snicket.

V.F.D. stands for Volunteer Fire Department. That IS what it stands for..... At least, I think so.... But it COULD mean any of the above things on that list.... I also saw some that were not credited to Snicket, i.e., Volunteers Fighting Disease.

I'm telling you it's not Volunteer Fire Department. Email jason@volunteerfd.org or go to www.volunteerfd.org and see for yourself. You'll see after book 12 or most likely 13 is released...

I believe it is more likely to stand for Volunteer Fire Department, but Lemony could trick us.

On that list, I think there are 13 Snickety answers. How appropriate.

Really, the only plausible theory left is that V.F.D. no longer stands for anything - It seems to me personally that the organization was very unorganized. the initials V.F.D. are everywhere. I think V.F.D may have started out as Volunteer Fire Department, but as the org. grew and expanded and schism-ed, the initials stopped meaning anything.
