I dont see why anyone (Well on the wrong side, Esme) who would cheat on someone they just married not to long ago... i mean did she just marry TEXT to join up with Olaf? She did know that Olaf had done that because Jarome knew and wanted to adopt them long ago... i can't believe there are that cold hearted people... *Izzie* (I would never cheat on my boyfriend!!) **

I don't think she ever loved Jerome. She uses her own charm and good looks to get whatever she wants, and she took advantage of Jerome's spineless nature, probably marrying him at Olaf's request. see "Mata Hari" and I think he might take her back. He needs somebody to dominate him.

That's actually quite sad, Esme's ways of tricking Jarome. He seems like a sweet, kind hearted person, and Esme took advantage of that. *Dabs at eyes*

I always got the sense he knew what was going on, or had an idea anyway, he let it continue because that was his nature

Maybe Jerome puts up with her because Esmé has lots of money so he wouldn't have to work again as long as he was still married to her. So he wouldn't really want a divorce if he could carry on spending Esmé's money after she ran off with Olaf.

But Jarome doesn't act that way, he was a sweet, kind-hearted man that wanted the best for the Baudelaires, and anyway, If he wanted her for her money, and knew what Olaf was up to, he wouldn't want Olaf to take Esme away, that was his wife, and his bling-bling machine! Ok, Don't worry I'm confusing myself...

No, no, Jerome was rich anyway. How do you think he could afford to buy the penthouse?

It doesn't say he bought it. That's an interesting interpretation of Jacques's letter to Jerome in the U.A.

He bought it before she ever met him though. See TUA, Geraldine's letter to Esme.

He bought it before she ever met him though. See TUA, Geraldine's letter to Esme. But doesn't Jerome say in TEE 'We only moved ina few weeks ago' or something like that? And it's best adding that they were married before the Baudelaire fire, because Jerome or Esme says 'we wanted to adopt you straight after the fire' So the main question is why did she marry him in the first place? For the erzatz elevator, or for the mysterious floor above the penthouse? I'd say if she married Jerome slightly before the fire, it was to get rid of the Baudelaire's by setting their house on fire. So now that that mission was done, perhaps Olaf told her to remain with Jerome? Perhaps for the Baudelaires, or perhaps the floor above the penthouse needed to be used? So unless she knows about the floor above the penthouse, and unless Jerome is still living at 667 Dark Avenue, I doubt she'd return to him. If Olaf died after all, she'd take all of his money, and be in control of the troupe. And isn't that what she wants?

If Olaf does die, or something happens to him, I think Esme will return to her penthouse, but Jerome will have left and gone off somewhere else. I don't think she liked the troupe very much, so they'll porbably be disbanded.
