If you want to talk about her questionable translations, there are a few that are less than appropriate. "Busheney" and "Scalia" being examples of Handler's political leanings. My favorite, though, has to be what is translated as "the one who looks like neither a man nor a woman." For those who don't recall, the word was "Orlando." ---------------------------- The Bloom Effect: Every awesome male lead starring opposite Orlando Bloom will be fanficced into homosexuality. They got Aragorn, they got Sparrow, and now they come for you! Scream and run away!

if you have noticed something about book the eighth ( The Hostile Hostipal) one of the patients that count olaf used for his schem, if you do a anagram you find that it says beatrice baudelaire

wow. many languages. wondering if Klaus taught her sister that one? I mean, she can't read (yet) so meaning someone taught her that one through oral communication.
correct me if I'm wrong.

Haha, it's funny to find this here. I don't mean to be rude by using such a word, but I feel it's relevant to the conversation... When listening to the audio book of The Ersatz Elevator, I thought I heard Sunny saying "S**t hole". It turned out to be "Chittol", however. But I played it to family members and they were shocked- they didn't think it sounded very appropriate.

Apparently, that one translated to "that’s true. We should stop complaining and go change into our new outfits," so it doesn't sound to me like the profane pun was intentional. Still, I'm surprised nobody caught that during recording.

Yes, that was the translation. I think it's just a matter of mis-hearing it. Perhaps for the matter of suitibility, he should have emphasised the 'ch'

I think Sunny speaking multiple languages is just one of those things that Handler put in the series to confuse the readers about where it all takes place. Kinda like how Violet, Klaus, etc. are all names that are common in different countries.

I don't think it's she actually "knows" all these languages, but rather they are just random words for those deep readers to go look up, and all have a relevant definition to the storyline.
