I couldn't find a thread on this, so I made one. Discuss Valorous Farms Dairy-- its location, cheesemakers, importance etc.
I think Valorous Farms Dairy is in the town of Lake Lachrymose, or close by anyway. Lemony says in is letter to Charley Patton--in the UA-- it was beside a lake. Also in the UA is the cow's map which points out a dairy near Lake Lachrymose. Possibly a coincedence, but I don't think so.

Maybe Lake Lachrymose was the "very deadly lake" - although it didn't look deadly in the picture. It doesn't always look terrible, though, as the Baudelaires noticed. Here's a thread which might interest others: When did Valorous Farms Dairy burn down? It's possible that vital information is kept at the dairy - or it might have been removed after the apparent failed arson attempt. Detective Smith still wanted the general public to think it had burned down, though - possibly to mislead and confuse any volunteer readers of The Daily Punctilio.

I wonder if the cheesemakers are any characters we've heard of. Lemony won't reveal their names("Drat!" was written in the margins because of this, so we might call one of them Farmer Drat. Volunteer Farmer Drat?)

I think they're probably just humble, non-volunteer cheesemakers. Or at least, I did until I remembered the Dairy's name. Still, I think that - like many of the older volunteers - they're no longer on active service. I don't expect them to ever appear, but Snicket is full of surprises, and we have no idea where B13 is set. The Dreadful Dairy, anyone?

That name would rock Dante! And, Lake Lachrymose is deadly, because of the Leeches.

I think they're probably just humble, non-volunteer cheesemakers. Yes, we are humble. And very cheesy. Snicket is full of surprises, and we have no idea where B13 is set. The Dreadful Dairy, anyone? I would love to star in Snicket's next book! Where do I sign up?

Humble, but no mere cheesemakers. They receive "Dear Dairy" letters full of V.F.D. business.

Wasn't Farmer Drat Professor Patton? Because that was who he sent the letter to? I thought was obvious. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)
It would be interesting if a book finally took place at the dairy.

No, Professor Patton wanted to know about the cheesemakers. If he was one of the cheesemaker, he'd never have needed to ask Lemony about the circumstances of his birth and the folk song about same.
