In Book 12, Kit says:
"You must go to the Hotel Denouement, and Quigley must go to the self-sustaining hot air mobile home, and I must go to the coral formaton of dubious quality where an inflatable raft should be waiting. But if Quigley manages to construct a net big enough to capture all those eagles, and I manage to contact Captain Widdershins and have him meet me at a certain clump of seaweed, we'll be here on Thursday."
I recognize the 'coral formaton of dubious quality" as the Mediocre Barrier Reef. But what about the "certain clump of seaweed"? For some reason that seems familiar. Has a clump of seaweed appeared before?

I don't think so... The other ocean locations mentioned in TGG were the Sontag Shore and the Gulag Archipelago. There's also Briny Beach, and the various locations within Lake Lachrymose (which I presume don't count). It did seem to be alluding to something, though. Most mysterious.
Incidentally, I really like aSoUE's ocean locations. It all sounds most intriguing.

The "large clump of seaweed" reference reminded me of the Sargasso Sea, which is allegedly so clogged up with seaweed(sargassum, it's called) that ships can't even get through it, and many sailors have been trapped there and died.
Another location someplace out there in the ocean is that island from which you can't take any fruit, and possibly some sort of base for the FFP.

I like the beach..... when I'm not on it.

I'm hoping to see an island with a volcano and corridors of skulls. Both would fit nicely on a pirate island.

There was a Gulag Archipelago somewhere if I'm not mistaken.

There was a Gulag Archipelago somewhere if I'm not mistaken. Oh, blast. I meant to mention that in my first post, but for some reason, I said "Barrier Reef" instead. Yes, that was mentioned alongside the Mediocre Barrier Reef and the Sontag Shore. "And we can see here that the tides would move it away from Sontag Shore in a northeasterly direction."
...
"It appears that the tides and currents in this part of the ocean would take the sugar bowl past the Gulag Archipelago here, and then head down toward the Mediocre Barrier Reef before turning at this point here, which is marked 'A.A.'"TGG - p76-77

I knew it sounded familiar. Thanks for the quote, Dante.
