Christian, Free Methodist.
Yeah, I find the Catholic stuff hard to understand. I've occasionally gone to a mass, and one of the bigger(erish) differences I found was the eucharist, during the Lord's Supper. I think (but I'm not sure) that that's an interpretation of the Bible? The protesdant interpretation being that the bread and wine represent Christ's flesh and blood, and the Catholic interpretation being that at the moment they ring the bell the the bread and wine become (in essence) Christ's flesh and blood? I'm really not sure though.

Yeah, that's pretty much the difference between Catholics and other Christans.

Quigley, I am almost 100% like you in this case. I am Jewish but I question authority and make my own beliefs. I celebrate the holidays as a cultural thing over a religious thing.
Oh yeah, and I don't believe in Hell.

Quigley, I totally understand that. How do your parents feel about that though? Or are they the same way? They don't really mind, I mean they're not religious either, but they don't TOTALLY not believe in God. But I mean, they're not like Orthodox Jews...

When I was in a rural town in New York state, there were a lot of Hasedic Jews. I mean, we're talking 8-year-old kids with sideburns that flap down to their shoulders. I'm not prejudiced, but I'm trying to think about what would happen if one of those kids went to my school...

has anyone read "Mere Christianity" by C.S.Lewis? i havent, but the summary on the back makes a great point- "...Religion, either accepted or rejected, is nothing to be taken lightly."

That is a good point...
I've been thinking a lot about religion lately. I'm a Christian and I go to a church which appears to be a congregationalist thing... allows anyone in to listen to God's word. I love going to church and learning these things and listening to the sermons, but I can't help but think. Is religion about the mind or the heart? Which do you follow?
There must be something keeping this world together. Miracles happen. I'm just not sure how yet.

Religion has been shunned, mocked, destroyed...and rebuilt. Religion is...well...I can't really find the words to describe it.
Can anybody?

I respect Religion. I'm not gonna picket temple or church or anything...but what bothers me is the subtle intolerance and such hidden in religion, you know? I mean, religion discourages learning ("He who increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow") and stuff. And it says homosexuality is sin...I'm not gay but that's still very terrible for people who are supposed to be all loving and stuff to not let people who they are. Religion shouldn't have to do with God or who you are...It should be about finding your true self and fancy stuff like that.

Religion should have everything to do with God IMHO, however, God should not necesarrily have anything to do with religion. I too get annoyed at stupid people who get pissed and stop listening at "Wives, submit to your husbands..." and never get to hear "...that a husband would lay down his life for his bride."
