I have posted this on other Lemony Forums, you may have seen it already "I enjoy the Narnia books . . . They're brilliant. And I enjoy The Lord of the Rings, although, I'm like the only person on Earth whose favorite of the three films is the first one. I've never read any of Lemony Snicket, but I looked at the front of a book and it was like someone had drawn Harry Potter on the cover. The character even has glasses. I love Alice in Wonderland as well. It's great, completely surreal and very bizarre book." www.danradcliffe.com/ Starlog Scans #4
I was wondering if any of them had read it, i guess not. Well i guess that speaks for the whole glasses in the movie thing. I wonder if he knows if that same character with the glasses is being played by a person who almost got that HP role.(Does he even know that there is now a movie?)
Also found this quote from Liam: Liam Aiken and Emily Browning were asked if the had read the books, the both said yes. Then someone asked if they thought it was like "Harry Potter?" Aiken said, "The film is nothing like "Harry Potter" this movie is darker," and this from the young boy, "it's about three orphans." vegasartscorner.com/ShoWest/press-conference3.html (I wonder if he has seen the new movie?)

That just sort of goes to show why they don't want the glasses in the movie... people will automatically think "Harry Potter!"
Still, it sort of seems stupid. "The character even has glasses." doesn't mean he looks like HP. Honestly? If a kid in literature has glasses, he's automatically a HP knock-off? Dumb, but kind of true. Not many males in literature have glasses anymore... Still, I REALLY hate it when people disregard books because they looks slightly like HP...

I hate Daniel Radcliffe....thinks hes all that, and actually dares to label the Snicket books as copying!!! I used to like Harry Potter, but as you can tell...I despise it now.

Unto Daniel Radcliffe I say Faugh! Faugh! Faugh! And again, Faugh!.
I hate how people see a popular children's book with some element of fantasy and assume that it's a rip-off of the last popular children's book with some element of fantasy, on really flimsy evidence or none at all. I've read reviews of Harry Potter that accuse it of ripping off Lord of the Rings or The Chronicles of Narnia.

I like your avatar Neggie ;D I think Liam might have gotten HP if only he had been British I like Liam's quote and how he is trying to separate LS from HP, AND he says it's DARKER, but that quote was out before the third HP film, so i don't know now

A Series of Unfortunate Events will definantly be darker than the Harry Potter movies.

Too bad Liam didn't get the part as HP. He's ten billion times hotter. Daniel Radcliffe is just an eye sore. Also Liam's voice is better and he's probably a much better actor. I also prefer his name in the movie and in real life. PLUS he's from NJ! ;D

...That they'll make it more goth than comedic? Yeah, Harry Potter has some comedy in it. But other than that it's all peppy little bags of fun with never ending smiles on the character's faces. Hopefully this movie will put Harry Potter in it's place once and for all.
MUAHAHAHA!

Dan Radcliff is such a....I wont say that word in case there are kids around.
Cheap, phony actor, nasty glasses wearing, braindead, icky hippie-wannabie!!! I hope he gets teh blood sucked out of him by leeches or attacked by snakes or crows! Thatll show him!!! Oh no, god forbid some other character in a book have glasses! That could ruin the world because Lemony Snicket decided to make a character with glasses!!! Lets all go to hell and read Lemony Snicket and about the OTHER kid with glasses!
Go ot hell, Radcliffe!
Sorry, I feel better now. ^_^ He should shut his nasty yap and read the book before criticizing it.

Nice ranting action! "Go to Hell" was a little harsh, but I agree that neither Radcliffe nor anyone else should call Lemony's work a Potter rip-off. By that logic, I'm a living Harry Potter rip-off for several reasons, my bespectaclement being one of them. People call Artemis Fowl and The Spiderwick Chronicles Harry Potter rip-offs as well, with slightly more logic.

I havent read any of the Spiderwhick Chronicles, but I dont think they look to fun. They look like LS ripp-offs, but I cant really make that conclusion till I read one.
I read some of the first AF book, and it was kinda stragne. The author used a lot of slangish terms and it was hard to understand. Plus, It wasnt that good. The fight with the troll was cool, though.
AF lost its movie version because of overseas money issues, so we wont be seeing Artemis Fowl the movie until they start it up again.

I've read the first two Spiderwick books, and they are not Lemony Snicket rip-offs. Or for that matter, Harry Potter rip-offs. But they aren't very good. I don't much like Artemis Fowl. Lemony rules.
