Yes, liver and spinach are generally useless for online communication. Dan's just scared that the kid that plays Klaus will be mistaken for Harry and all of Dan's rabid roundglasses groupies will convert! MWHAHAHA! Oh deary me! We absolutely cannot have that! Would you believe that people actually call Snicket's books a Harry Potter rip-off? I once read a review of TBB that said something like "Can't everyone see that this book is exactly like Harry Potter? The boy on the cover even has the same freaking glasses!"

Well, I like both and actually, it's funny how I came upon the Snicket books. I saw Klaus on the cover and I was like "whoa, that kid looks like Harry Potter, must read." But I soon realized, that these were very diffrent books. Not as magical and more...real? I dunno, but the writing rocked and if we can trick potter fans into reading the books and getting them to like 'em. I say, "Oh yea oh yea!"

Spiderwick rules! It has absolutely nothing to do with Lemony Snicket. It is all about faeries, goblins, trolls and other hilariously funny escapades, amogst a strong structural plot.
I hate it when on the screen it says it is one page and then when u post it shows up on the 4th page.

That reviewer should shut his mouth and read the book with no biases against it. That is what I hate the most. Ignorant people trying to sound smart.

How the heck is Klaus exactly like Harry? There are some similarities between Klaus and Harry, but they're not exactly alike. Klaus has neater hair.

Well, here's the original accusative review:
<<J.K. Rowling wannabe, June 7, 2001 Reviewer: {name omitted to protect the spuriously innocent} This is a total ripoff of the Harry Potter series. HELLO? The boy even looks like Harry Potter! They have the same freaking glasses! How could anyone who likes Harry Potter like this book? Bad things happen to Harry Potter too at the beginning you know. I would suggest you read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone before you read it so you can see as I have, that this is a total copy of it. Harry Potter is much more original. Like, did this guy, Lemony Snicket, think that people wouldn't notice how his books is like Harry Potter? Does he think kids are stupid and wouldn't notice such things? You know what else are copycats? NSYNC copied BSB, Pepsi copied Coke, Britney copied Mariah...>>
I don't want to see as this person does. And I'm glad that not many people do.

That person needs to die

Not just die, s/he should be tortured and killed slowly and painfully.
I bet s/he didn't even read the book. ASOUE is witty and the kind of book where anything can happen, HP's a sort of mystery story with a much overworn plot that I'm getting very tired of. Orphans against evil men were not introduced by J.K. Rowling. I might as well call Harry Potter a rip-off of Dickens's Nicholas Nickelby, if people are calling ASOUE a Harry Potter rip-off.

That makes my blood boil. I know everyone has their different points of view, but please. A Series of Unfortunate Events is nothing like Harry Potter.

You are all right. But some of us including me thought ASOUE were HP ripoffs. I got all of the books at one time and had read all of them when I saw the MM then I thouight it was a ripoff. But my inspiring story helped me get into the books.

Now I know why on magazines and thing they say Great for potter fans because they think it's the same thing. IT IS NOT THE SAME. It would be like calling my best fiend HP because he had round glasses! (Yah, my friend had glasses.) 8-)Like this. They only say that because they havent read them. I bet if they read them they would fall in love with The Unfortunate Events series. And I don't like to read about poeple making fun of A Series of Unfortunate Events, it's ...it's so sad. Oh, sorry. I don't agree with the die or GTH, just the plian 'ol "Oh shut up you little freak! Can't you see your being stupid?!" (Really stupid.) Oh that little... mean old... URGH!!!!! My friend likes HP and I tried to get him to read ASOUE so he read the 5th and the 7th but for some reason, he didn't become obsessed. Maybe since he didn't read the first one, to make it a complete story?
