If you're in the Seattle area and plan on attending the annual Bumbershoot festival, Handler will be making two spoken word appearances. One of them will also feature Dave Eggers and Sarah Vowell in an effort to raise money for 826 Seattle, a spin-off of San Francisco's 826 Valencia program for children's writing. Bagley Wright Theatre, Saturday, 2:30pmLemony Snicket McCaw Hall, Saturday, 8:00 pmDave Eggers, Sarah Vowell, Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket), Mike Doughty, and The Transatlantic Orchestra in a Benefit for 826 Seattle Details here: www.bumbershoot.com/lineup/lit.htmlwww.826seattle.orgwww.826valencia.org

Thank you for contributing this information.
On a personal note, not living in America, I obviously won't be attending. Who thinks that they will?

Who thinks that they will? I live a few miles from Seattle Center, so I usually make a point of going, plus the music and comedy lineup is very interesting this year. I've been waiting for an opportunity to show Handler my eye tattoo.

Ah, excellent.
I live a few hours North of Seattle (...Just outside of Vancouver, actually) but I'll see if I can go see him.
Edit: Which Saturday?
Edit: Ah, September third. My mother is thinking about it.

If I could only steal a plane and get to Seattle in time...
Anyways, it's great you'll get to meet him, and yes, I want a full report.
Oh and Scotty, you might not want to steal Kelsea's avatar and hotlink it to her own photobucket.

I must go and get tickets.

I'm adding you to my jealous list.
Seriously, I'm glad you get to go. But you must tell us all about it.

I'm adding you to my jealous list. Seriously, I'm glad you get to go. But you must tell us all about it. At this festival, there is no audio/video recordings allowed, but I will give everyone a (hopefully) detailed account of Lemony Snicket's 2:30 show. I am also going to attend the "Assisnation Vacation" show, that Daniel Handler with be in.

Okay, now I'm double jealous. I enjoyed Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation and wouldn't mind seeing her too.
Is there any "meet and greet" opportunities at Bumbershoot that you could possibly meet the artists?

Is there any "meet and greet" opportunities at Bumbershoot that you could possibly meet the artists? In past years, I've usually been able to talk to just about anyone after the shows, especially the comedians and authors. However, with a new Snicket book on the horizon, I expect his appearances at Bumbershoot to be standing room only and meet and greet opportunities to be limited. I plan on lining up pretty early.
