Who says that this song isn't talking about Jacques? I mean, doesn't L say that when the parents got home, there were NO children, just two half-full cups of tea? So when they "took" L, they "took" K and J, too. It is probably talking about Lemony, but I just wanted to bring this up.

Because Lemony was the youngest, and presumably his twin siblings were not born at the dairy, but instead at a hospital. And presumably, Lemony would know if a popular song was about him rather than his sibling.

It's implied on the 2004 calendar, where both Jacques and his sister's birthdays were marked on the same day. Also, on the E. branch of the family tree from the U.A., thought to represent the Snicket siblings as it has the initials J(acques), K(it) and L(emony), then the J. and K. branches pair off from a single point.

The likelihood is that they are twins but my mum shares the same birthday with one of her brothers but were born on different years... Anywhos, your right Grace, the song doesn't actually specify which Snicket it was devoted to, but I still believe it was Lemony, just because I don't think he'd get it wrong.

funny thing: the song is to the tune of row row row your boat, did anyone else notice that? And presumably, Lemony would know if a popular song was about him rather than his sibling. this makes sense, because lemony remembers what happens (right?) so he should know that the song was written about him.

Lemony says that it's to the tune of a "well-known hymn of naval disaster," assumed by many to be Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and allegedly known by others. Others have said that it's actually to the tune of various other things - I remember somebody mentioning The Wreck of the Hesperus... Not being familiar with musical notation, I wouldn't know, but I've always thought it was Row, Row, Row Your Boat. (Also note that Lemony states that the included sheets aren't the correct music, but presumably the correct music does not really exist.)

It is definitely "Row, row, row your Boat". I've played it.

It's retarded, though. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/253263/images/aKebVqvfXozMvrLoISGi.gif) They'll give you one note for three different words. BTW, congrats on getting 1000 posts, Sixteen.

Yeah, when I read the note about it being played to the tune of a naval disaster, myself having no musical talent whatsoever asked my sister to play it on the piano and it was definately row row row your boat.

Cool, a thread about me (my name!)! LOL
I'd say it is definately about Lemony, just makes sense, plus he presented it and, inderectly, hinted that it was him. In addition, he corrected parts of the song-presumeably to the accurate facts about himself.
The song also goes quite nicely with the Gilligan's Island theme song. Rythmicly, it almost works better for some parts where 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' has a bad notation musically when you check the individual syllables. But 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' does work as well. It is also more widely known, however Gilligan's Island does prove to contain more of the naval disaster part. It would be very much so like DH to say that the child's song is a well-known hymn of naval disaster!
Just my personal finds...

Row Row Row your boat is Violet's least Fav song! That's funny that he chose that tune, huh?

That's probably why he said that that was her least favorite song.

Whoa! Unsingable[/stupid]
Three word in one note?
Anyway, can anybody compose the song in their cellular phones? I'd like to have the ring tone.
