I overlooked this, upon my return. Tragedy's slightly un-heroic moodiness is interesting.

Yes, it's rare to see him so closely, and actually with a cogent personality. Good work.

Thankyou for the praise, everyone. I hope to have a new chapter up tonight, in 2 to 4 hours.
A bit late, but I was dragged to the movies.
J. woke up. Rays of shining sunlight filtered through the window and a bird chattered happily in a nearby tree. She was thoroughly annoyed. Suddenly a tall, bespectacled brunette bounced into view, yelling 'Surprise!!!!!" 'Brilliant,' thought J., 'just what I need. M.' "How's your writing going? Hmmm?" chirped M. J. groaned, staring at the 200 pages of manuscript before her. Only the first 50 had actually been written on. The rest were swallowed by doodles. "Great, just great." she replied, sardonically. "Yzay! "Yelled M. "so you must be in a good mood. Just as well. We need to get going." Saying this she shoved her finger into J.'s face. Upon that finger was an ornament of such surpassing beauty that many a squirrel was hypnotized by its glare, and ended up being squashed under the wheels of M.'s Cadillac. It had the number 667 spelled out in the center and the letter 'M' was inscribed on a hanging pinstriped tab. With a single glare at the ring, J. made up her mind. Grabbing a few pointy rocks, and her trusty towel, Ford, she followed M. to the Cadillac. "My wheels are overacting a bit. I think something's stuck in them." observed M. ----
J.'s pointy rocks were later used on squirrels which were throwing nuts at the car. They thought the car was a God, the God of Doom. They were trying to appease it.
At least they all got the satisfaction of dying religiously.

Very funny. Random tangential throwaways are amusing. What he said, but with different, but easier to understand, words. Do more.

Very clever and Adams-y indeed.
Also, Akbar, I recognize the "creatures of the end days" text in your sig--it's from Good Omens, which I read recently.

Very clever and Adams-y indeed. Also, Akbar, I recognize the "creatures of the end days" text in your sig--it's from Good Omens, which I read recently. Brilliant book. I'd just finished it when I left Canada.Dong. Minocher looked out the window, briefly lowering his exquisite fountain pen. Outside , rain fell ,decorating the pavements of Cambridge with an intricate filigree. He could just make out the patterns of the bell tower, crosses and swords. Lowering the Mont Blanc creation once more, he marked an annoying little daughter of a knight a 56 on 100. He looked around at the huge imposing room. There was only one thing which clashed with the aura of refined and elegant brilliance. In a magnificent frame on the oak wall hung a picture, a collage of sorts. It seemed as though all he pictures had been printed out separately and been stuck together. In the very centre there was a huge picture of a pretty girl in her teens. Stare at it, a tear came into Minochel’s eye. It was soon replaced by a hard stare s the knight’s daughter came in. “Purfesserrrr,” she trilled., “letter!!!” Grabbing the letter, he frowned at the girl. Within a minute of opening the letter the frown had turned into an expression of surprise and despair. “PROFFESSOR MYSTERIOSLY DISAPPEARS.” Last night in Cambridge, Professor Minocher Eduljee o was reported missing. People say they heard the screech of wheels ad it is suspected that he drove off. His whereabouts are unknown. In fact, the authorities are baffled as the professor was very secretive and so thewre is no evidence at all.” The torn article fluttered along the street. There was a coffee stain on it and the imprint of a heavy ring.

Cool. I only wonder why I was in Cambridge, not Oxford! It is the only place where they have an Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic course, I suppose, so I could wend my way there as a post-grad...
I wonder what the fate of Amber has been that stirs me to tears?

Curious and Curiouser. Do write more. Perhaps Amber's plight has to do with the sudden increasing of 667 activity? I doubt it, but it's possible.
