Incredible. If it's about what happens after The End: I'll jump for joy. If it's a Quagmire series: I'll explode with joy. If it's a V.F.D. series: I'll cause a chain reaction which will cause the universe to implode around me in joy. ;D What if it's completely unrelated to A Series of Unfortunate Events and the only similarity is in the written style? .... JUST SIT ON MY DAY, DANTE. Haha, just kidding. But if it is completely unrelated and only Snicket's persona is preserved from aSoUE, I'll be mildly interested and very dissapointed. But it'll still be neato cheeto.

I love that it says "free CD inside." Because it's totally free.

You can tell it's free because the forty-page book costs so much.

I think any series under the name of Snicket will be amazing, because I can imagine it as part of the ASOUE universe. That's what, to me, made ASOUE so appealing: the enormity, complexity, and mystery of the world it happens in. There are different stories, but they are all connected. As well, I think Helquist illustrating it would make it feel that much more connected. I'm very excited! There's no tentative release date, is there?

There's no tentative release date, is there? Not a chance, I'm afraid. If there's no tentative release date for the pirate novel Handler's been writing for ten years, there's certainly no tentative release date for a series he's barely started working on an idea for. If I had to guess, I'd expect the pirate novel sometime in the second half of 2009, and the new series to begin early 2010. The release schedule from then on really depends what the new series is like. ASoUE, for example, started off with maybe two books a year, but by the end of the series it was just one a year, which is how it often is with a lot of major series, particularly if the author works on other things at the same time; on the other hand you've got things like The 39 Clues or Goosebumps HorrorLand, which come out every couple of months (much like the original schedule for the aSoUE paperbacks, before they were postponed a third of the way into their run).

Yeah, I guess that was sort of a stupid question (or wishful thinking). The Composer Is Dead will have to tide me over until the series starts.

Ah, I'm thriiiiilled!
Oh my Zeus! I can barely process that!
Though I think I'd be incredibly intrigued (maybe even more excited) if it were still set in the world of ASOUE, but was an entirely different story. I really can't imagine what Daniel Handler can come up with!

Is the book related to the Baudelaire case?

We have no idea. I personally doubt it, but you never know.
