Lulu was amazed by how open Sabrina was being with her, and it made the fortune-teller feel rather guilty about keeping V.F.D. a secret. “What about the other members of your family?” Lulu asked. “Do you and your siblings come from a long line of witches and warlocks? [You’re welcome! I think that Lulu was most likely on the villainous side of the schism, since she expressed remorse to the Baudelaires. And I figured that Sabrina was a member of V.F.D.— what do you think would be a good way for her and Lulu to discover that they’re both members?]

"My grandmother is a witch, too," added Sabrina, "as well as my great-grandfather and great-great-grandmother. Actually, it goes way back. I'd say that about one-third of my family are witches. By the way, I was wondering..." Sabrina swallowed, as she wondered whether it was a good idea to ask. "Say, do the letters VFD mean anything to you?"
OOC: I'll bring it up in this post. Also, you forgot to mention when the schism occurred in your ficverse.

As Sabrina spoke aloud the initials of the organization, Lulu smiled. It was the clue that the fortune-teller needed to let her know that Sabrina was one she could trust. “Yes, please,” Lulu said, and then lowered her voice to a whisper that only the two of them could hear. “You are a member of the organization?” [I’m sorry about that. I tend to be very forgetful. The schism occurred in 1987 in my ficverse. I am gonna get offline for the night, but I’ll be back tomorrow. ]

"I certainly am," Sabrina replied, smiling. "I was recruited back in 1965, shortly before the schism occurred." OOC: So I guess the schism occurs about two years later.

Madame Lulu raised an inquisitive eyebrow. “Forgive my ignorance,” she said. “But what exactly do you mean by ‘schism’, please? I have been a member of V.F.D. for many years, and I was never aware of any such incident.” [Yup! You got it. ]

I guess this really is a different world, Sabrina thought, to herself. Aloud, she mumbled, "I, uh... I'm sorry. I guess we must, uh, not be talking about the same VFD." She hoped that Madame Lulu would buy the explanation, considering that there were plenty of VFDs. "So, uh, what about Very Funky Disco? I spent a lot at the place, during the late seventies."

Madame Lulu supposed that Sabrina must have been referring to one of the other V.F.D. organizations. After all, Lulu didn’t recall ever running into the other woman at any of the meetings or even the Training School.
“I am sorry, please,” Lulu said. “But I was never one for socializing. While all of my classmates were going to clubs and parties, I preferred holding tarot readings in my dormitory for anyone who was interested.”

"So you're not much of a social butterfly, eh?" Sabrina asked, smiling. "I'm like that, too, sometimes. It depends on the mood I'm in. Sometimes, I like to go astral travelling - which can be very fun. It's unethical, though, to use astral travel to spy on your friends. I also do like to go dream walking. If anyone is having a bad dream, I'd like to help make it better."
OOC: It might be about time to get back to Klaus, Isadora, and Esme. They were at Pizza Hut, when we decided to switch to the next group.

[Yeah, I’ve been thinking about getting back to one of the other groups, too. I’ll reintroduce Klaus, Izzy and Esmé in this next post. ] “You seem like very kind person, please,” Madame Lulu said. She had never in her life been acquainted with any witches, but could tell straightaway that Sabrina was the sort of person she would very much like to have as a friend. *** Esmé dabbed delicately at her red lipsticked mouth with her napkin. Because Olaf had forbidden her to eat dinner and she’d eaten very little breakfast, she had been starving by the time she’d sat down to lunch. “Thank you very much for lunch,” Esmé said to Klaus and Isadora. “But I promised a friend of mine I’d go and visit her today, and so I really should be going.” Esmé paused, and then added, “Would you like to come?”

"Oh, I'd definitely love to come!" gushed Klaus.
"Yeah, same here," agreed Isadora, nodding. "So, Esme, who is that friend?"
OOC: I just realized that, once we bring the whole group together, things will start to get pretty complex.

“Beatrice Taylor,” Esmé explained, watching as the eyes of both Klaus and Isadora widened. “We attended the same high school, and she graduated in June.”
[That’s fine. It’ll be interesting to see how the other characters interact.]

"That sounds awesome," replied Isadora, smiling. "I'd be looking forward to meeting Beatrice." "Same here," agreed Klaus, somewhat nervously. If not for the fact that the time period was still decidedly the 1980s, he would've thought that he and Isadora went back in time. Granted, his mother had a different maiden name - but the similarities still seemed so uncanny. OOC: Cool! Now, we have to remember, Esme doesn't yet know that Klaus and Isadora are visiting from another world.

“I promise that you’ll like her,” Esmé gushed. “She was one of the first friends I made at the V—” She stopped, as she realized what she was about to say. “At school,” she finished. [Yes, that’s right. Thanks for reminding me of that, and I’ll be sure to keep it in mind for future posts. ]

"Sounds like a nice girl," Isadora replied, smiling. She could swear that Esme was about to say "VFD", but decided not to press the issue.
"So, uh, where are we going from here?" asked Klaus.

“Beatrice is staying with her parents right now,” Esmé explained, “awaiting the birth of her daughter. The Taylors’ mansion is about half an hour from here, so we’ll have to take the bus.”
