The younger Jerome couldn’t help but smile a little in response to both Quigley’s words and his gesture. Jerome hated to cry in front of anyone, and most of the time he managed to hold back his tears until he was alone. This time, however, he was unable to prevent the two tears that slipped from his green eyes a moment later. “It’s just that…” Jerome began. “I don’t have a very good relationship with my father. He wants me to play sports, even though I’m not any good. When I explain to him that I’m more talented in the kitchen, he asks me why I can’t be more like my brother. He’s only twelve, and has already had more girlfriends than I have friends.” [Yes. Maxwell was verbally abusive toward both Jerome and Cora. Maxwell also physically abused Jerome by spanking and hitting him with a belt. ]

"That isn't right," Violet replied, softly. She thought of her own parents, and how much she missed them. They were always fair and open-minded, and they didn't believe in playing favourites.
Sure, they sometimes lost their temper - but they were always mindful to apologize for it, later. She felt guilty for even the thought, but she wondered how the younger Jerome would feel - if he lost his father in a fire.
"I'm so sorry, Jerome," Quigley whispered, as tears filled his slate-blue eyes. "It's not right of your father to treat you that way. I don't much care for sports, either."
"Yeah, I'm sorry," agreed the older Jerome, as tears also filled his blue eyes. Suddenly, he felt some paternal affection for the younger Jerome. "I wish I could, uh, adopt you. I'd love to have you for a son!"

[Awww! That was so sweet of your Jerome to tell mine that he’d love to adopt him. *hugs your Jerome*]
The younger Jerome sniffed, and the older one snatched a few napkins from the dispenser on the table. He handed them to the young man, who accepted them with a smile of appreciation.
“Thank you,” said the younger Jerome, as he dabbed at his eyes before blowing his nose. “You’re very kind.”
“Jerome is the top student in his home economics class at school,” Monty bragged. “He makes the most delicious pistachio muffins you’ve ever tasted!”
The younger Jerome blushed. “They’re not that delicious,” he replied modestly.
“Oh, yeah? Then why were they sold out in a matter of minutes at your school’s bake-sale last month?”

"Perhaps, Jerome," Violet suggested, grinning wickedly, "we should try hypnotizing your father into loving you." Unlike with what Georgina Orwell did with Klaus, they'd be using hypnosis to serve a good purpose.
"That sounds like a good idea," agreed Quigley, flashing a lopsided smile. "I wonder what he'd think, when the hypnosis finally wore off."
OOC: Come to think of it, what do you suppose would happen - if your Jerome did just that? He doesn't even try to hypnotize his father into loving him more than Andrew, just loving him in the same way as he loves Andrew? I know, it's a wild question - but I know I'd be tempted to do that, if I was in his situation (and, somehow, had access to hypnosis).

The younger Jerome had heard many stories about the speculations of hypnosis, but had always been hesitant to try it himself. He didn’t consider himself to be a particularly clever boy, and so his faith that he would be able to hypnotize his father was questionable. “Wouldn’t we need a pendulum?” the younger Jerome asked. “I’ve seen it done on television shows and in movies. The hypnotizer always uses a pendulum or something of that nature.” [We’ve already discussed your hypnosis idea, so once again I’ll just say that it’s brilliant and we’ll definitely have to expand on it later on in the RP. ]

"Sabrina," suggested Duncan, softly. "She's a witch, so hypnosis would come naturally to her. Although, come to think of it, is she..." "Now that you've mentioned it," replied Quigley, "I wonder if Sabrina could be the reason that we... I mean, I don't think it could be Doc." OCC: Sounds cool!

“I don’t mean to rush things,” Monty said, pulling back his sleeve to examine his watch. “But Jerome”— he indicated which Jerome he meant by placing his hand on the younger one’s shoulder —“and I do have to get going. We promised some friends of ours we’d meet them in the park at four, and it’s a quarter to that time now.”
“Perhaps you’d all like to join us?” the young Jerome offered, smiling around at all of his newfound friends.
[Awesome! ^_^]

"I'd be happy to," Quigley replied, flashing a lopsided smile.
"Same here," added Duncan, smiling. "I must say, this has been a very interesting experience."
"Guys," Jennifer asked, nervously, "are you really that serious about the... the hypnosis thing?"
"Why don't we discuss this later," suggested Duncan, as he slipped his arm around his girlfriend. "I must say, I really do like the beef French dip. There aren't too many French foods that I like, but I'll definitely come back for those."
OOC: BTW, who is your ficverse is a fan of BTTF? I'm trying to figure out who might recognize the Quagmire triplets, Jerome, Jennifer, or Doc.

Once the two Jeromes had paid their separate bills and everyone chipped in for the tip, the group left the restaurant.
“We’re going to pay some friends of ours a visit today,” Monty explained on their way to the park, which was only a ten-minute walk from the Veritable French Diner.
“They don’t know it yet, of course,” the young Jerome added. “But we thought it would be nice to surprise them.”
[In my ficverse, the BTTF fans are Jerome and Esmé. Carmelita is one as well, but not as much as her parents.]

"That sounds great," replied Quigley, nodding. "I love going to to the park. Violet and I enjoy walking quite a bit."
"Yeah, and so Jenn and I," agreed Duncan, flashing a lopsided smile.
OOC: That sounds cool - and I guess Carmelita wouldn't be born, yet.

The group soon arrived at the park, and scanned the area for their companions. It was Monty who eventually caught sight of a second group consisting of two young children, a pair of teenagers and a man who looked to be in his mid sixties.
“There are Bertrand and Geraldine,” Monty said. “Sitting over there at that picnic table.”
[Nope. Not for another two years.]

"Bertrand?" asked Violet, stunned. "As in Bertrand Baudelaire? He does look like a younger version of my father."
"Geraldine?" asked Duncan, grimacing. "As in Geraldine Julienne?" He knew that the gossip from The Daily Punctilio was never married. He hoped that, if this Geraldine was the younger version of the Geraldine he knew, she wouldn't cause trouble.
Meanwhile, Sunny and Beatrice starting jumping up and down - as they caught sight of Jerome, Violet, Jennifer, and the Quagmire boys.
"My! My! My!" commented Doc, laughing. "It sounds like you kids are excited."

“I’ll say!” Bertrand agreed. “I wonder what—” He broke off, as his eyes settled on the six figures making their way over to them. “Monty!” Geraldine squealed, leaping off the bench to go and greet her boyfriend. “Come on,” Bertrand said, and offered a hand to each of the little girls. “I’ll walk you two over.” While Bertrand, Sunny, Beatrice and Doc made their way leisurely over to the group, Geraldine was busy pressing her lips fully against Monty’s. “I missed you,” Geraldine purred. Monty smiled, and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose as his girlfriend let go of him. “I missed you, too,” he said. “Even though it’s only been a day since we last saw each other.” [I’ve got to get up early tomorrow, so I’m going to get offline for the night. Tomorrow we can introduce Sabrina and Lulu to Doc and the gang if you like. ]

Violet's eyes grew wide, as she could hardly believe what she was seeing. She never would've expected for the herpetologist to have an affair with the gossip from The Daily Punctilio. Then, again, she wasn't certain if the version she knew ever had an affair. "My name is Sunny Baudelaire," explained Sunny, smiling at Monty and the young Jerome. She didn't remember spending time with the older version of the herpetologist, as she had only been a baby. "I'm Beatrice Baudelaire," added Beatrice. Of course, when the Baudelaire siblings were staying with "Uncle Monty", young Beatrice was still only a fetus. "My name's Dr. Emmett Brown," as Doc, as he extended a hand to Monty and the young Jerome. "I'm a scientist." OOC: That sounds awesome!

[O.K., great! I didn’t get to it in this next post, but perhaps Doc would recognize Sabrina and then rush over to her?]
“My name is Montgomery Montgomery,” Monty greeted the three strangers. “But everyone calls me ‘Monty’. And this is my friend, Jerome Squalor.”
“H-how d-do you d-do?” the younger Jerome asked nervous. He cursed himself silently for stuttering. It was yet another idiosyncrasy that his father looked down on, and one that the poor boy was unable to control.
“So,” Geraldine said. ”You’re the infamous Jerome Squalor my boyfriend has told me so much about. It’s a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance.” She held out her hand, and the two shook. “He also says that your pistachio muffins are the best in town.”
