For the ball, there's just a post made in MMiscellaneous and everyone just posts in it. You can bring a date, or post pictures of a dress you're "wearing", but basically it's just an excuse to socialize.

Or we could use the Penthouse that just sits there nowadays.....

I wouldn't say it "sits there," but that same thought crossed my mind as well.

It does. Although if you have Firefox or similar browser you'll have to download the plug in.

And Tragedy, Pandora, and I were there a few hours ago. Antenora dropped in for a moment, too, so it seems people do still visit occasionally.

Also, we've got a no for sending out a second mass e-mail. Oh - why? ('Cause there's a thing I'm meant to be taking part in tomorrow, which I agreed to a while ago, and would have completely forgotten about if I hadn't got a reminder email today, so I would think reminders might be a good idea.) And by the way, are you getting responses for the 'Where are you now?' thing?

Sorry about double post, but this a different topic.
Suggested plan for the trivia thing: Five rounds, one per day, with, ideally, thirteen questions in each round. (This is conditional on my being able to think up that many.) Each round would have a theme, and most of them at least would look for information which is in ASOUE, but in such a way that it wouldn't be obvious where to look for it. E.g. a 'Who said X?' round, a 'What does X mean?' round (which could cover both SunnySpeak and 'words which here mean'), and a locations round (e.g. 'Where would you find a library of things that are in' - that one would be too obvious, but it shows the sort of thing it would cover). There'd be a simple answer to each question, but people would be encouraged to give background detail in order to break ties (since, with all the erudition we have here, it's not impossible more than one person would get them all right). Questions to be posted each day around lunchtime in Britain, and hence fairly early in America. (Apologies to Australians.)

You might consider requesting page numbers, too, as it looks as though much of what you're planning to ask can be answered using electronic resources, e.g., Dastardly Documents, ASOUE ebooks, etc.
Here's what I had in mind for the Wildest Speculation contest:
Drawing from evidence provided by Snicketmail, interviews, articles, and chapter releases, concoct a theory which at first glance appears logical, but is in actuality ridiculous. Alternatively, concoct a theory which at first glance appears illogical, but is in actuality quite sensible.
I'll add in an example when I think of one, but this is the general idea.

Wait, never mind. Tragedy sent me a pm saying "no" so I posted that, but then I got another one that said "jk lol", so I guess it is a yes.
I got two responses the day the other e-mail was sent, and haven't gotten any since. I was hoping to put a reminder for the "where are they now" in the second e-mail to hopefully get more.

I like those ideas for the Wildest Speculation contest and encourage them entirely. For the trivia contest, Hermes, have you considered having a kind of tacit link to ATWQ by theming each day's round after a particular WH question - so a day of Whos, a day of Whats... guess you'd have to skip How, but that one doesn't begin with W anyway.

Hm -
Who said..? Where might you find...? What does ... mean?
No, I hadn't thought of it, but now you mention it the format lends itself very nicely to it. So I still need to think of things for when and why.
