Oh right, well that could work too of course. The only problem I can see with favourite author day is that we might all come as Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket, unless it was pre-organised before hand. An issue remedied by a shared understanding for our mutual fondness for Snicket, and an agreement through which no one represents him the day of the event. Well, I guess that would technically be second-favorite author day, then. But most people have more than one.

I don't; I want to send Akbar a facebook message, though, since he was the original editor. He looks like he's pretty busy with college, but he might want to do something.
I think it's be fun to have a different theme every day. Not everyone will be able to log in everyday, of course, but that's fine; just whoever is there that day can participate in that day's theme. I put the four theme days mentioned (667 character day, impersonate a 667er, favorite author day, and come as yourself for Friday) as tentative themes for days 1,2,3 and 5; there are 3 spots left for any other themes we would want to do.
Since people are starting to volunteer for things, I've put their names next to the thing they are volunteering for. Once you're in charge of something, you can pretty much work autonomously on it and then just post in this thread or make another thread if you need input or volunteers. I put myself in charge of the timeline, but if anyone really had their heart set on it, let me know and I can step down. With the volunteers we have we'll just need someone needed for the remaining contests, and someone to post the daily theme early every morning.

I would like to volunteer for running the ASOUE cover design contest, if that's OK. I just need to get these things straight: It would be an ASOUE or ATWQ cover desing constest? Would it last the whole week? Would I be the one to choose the winning cover?
Unrelated question: The reality show-esque contest would really choose a new admin?
Sorry to bother you with my questions.

Would it last the whole week? Would I be the one to choose the winning cover? I think people upthread were saying it'd be to design the ATWQ cover, but if you're in charge, you can decide what you want. As for judging, you could either judge yourself, or make a poll on Saturday for other people to vote in; again, up to you. I suspect whoever suggested that may have been saying it tongue in cheek, but I was thinking of asking Tragedy to be in charge of that one. Maybe the prize could be admin for a day?

I guess we never decided whether the contest would be for ASOUE or ATWQ? I suppose people could submit for both, and a winner chosen from each.
Should we coordinate to have the contests running at the same time? And I should probably ask which board contests would take place in, too; some are suited for BBooks, others CCreativity, and others still AArt. Having them staggered about the place might get cluttered, unless there was a master thread of sorts linking to the various contests and events.

Besides the potential admin capabilities, then, what did people have in mind for awards?

I'm not sure what kind of award I could create, I made banners for competition winners in the past, but I don't know....

I'd love to volunteer to run the Weird Ships contest, if that's alright with everyone. Let me get it clear - Weird Ships would be a fic contest using weird ships, right? With a poll to judge the winning piece, say?

Yes, what kind of awards could there be?
EDIT: If anyone needs banners for any kinds of competitions I'll be happy to make some.

If anyone thinks of anything better, we can always switch, but I'd say banners definitely seem like a good prize.
Lemona - that's the general idea, yes. If you need me to, I can dig up some links to past Weird Ship Weeks. Thanks for volunteering; I put you on the first post.

Could I create two separate threads, one for ASOUE cover design and another for ATWQ? Sorry again for all the questions.

Great! Thanks, Linda. Yes, if you don't mind, I'd love to see how it's been done in the past.

The trivia contest is for questions about ASoUE, right?

I believe it would be. Although if contestants are allowed to consult with the books, it might be more akin to a scavenger hunt.
